Homepage is a sight for sore eyes today...
I log on & what do I see?--a feast for a fatigued mind and balm for an embattled psyche!!

"WP A1: Ex-CIA Official Faults Use of Data on Iraq ("cherry-picking")"

"Bush faces Congress revolt over spying"

"Paper: White House Knew About Levees Early"

"Abramoff says he met Bush "almost a dozen" times"

"Kerry, Salazar Announce the “Duke Cunningham Act”"

"Cheney 'Authorized' Libby to Leak Classified Information"

And this is just the front page! I know, I know, none of these scandals has really come to a head yet. It may be awhile still, and there's "many a slip twixt the cup and the lip", but I'm betting the long awaited drink will be very tasty. SG

:toast: :toast: :toast: (This may be a bit premature but that homepage

really cheered me up!)

1. Gee... it must be Friday...
time for the weekly news dump.

But HEY, lookie over here... another white woman and her child were MURDERED!! By her HUSBAND! OMG!
Or they dissapeared! Or there is a celebrity involved somehow.

Yup, many of the scandals are breaking at once... but I'm wondering how much is "Sticking" with Joe Sixpack.

2. True, a critical mass is only beginning
to build in Joe/Jolene Six-Pack's brain--but even he/she can't ignore the sheer volume of disastrous news? SG

7. Friday news dump?
I think a very important thing here is that they did NOT come out on Friday afternoon. Most of this came out on Thursday, was discussed here all day and made the evening newscasts last night.

I refuse to adopt a sense of futility about this.

9. Yes... DU is almost always ahead of the curve

MSM on the other hand...

see... I have a very jaded view of the world... Let me explain.

I believe that not only was the "LA terror plot foiled" story more or less made up out of whole cloth (I believe that when Khalid Sheik Mohamed was tortured, he gave them a "mishmash" of previous plots... shoe bombs, 9/11, pacific airline hijacking... and they dutifully jotted it all down, and therefore it was "foiled"). anyway, not only do I believe that the plot was mostly a fake, but that Bush put it out there "now" to remove the wiretapping stories and to push for Patriot Act renewal... but not only that, it was put into the MSM echo chamber on THURSDAY, so that "Bush foiled plot" would actually sink in a bit. But by Friday, when the questions start being asked about the timing of the story, the facts behind the "plot" and questions like "How did the Patriot Act help with foiling this plot" or "did illegal wiretapping actually uncover this" and so on... THOSE stories would end up in the Friday news dump. And people won't pay attention... all they will remember is "golly gee, it sure is good that W is on the case, see, once you give him the appropriate tools, he stops them terrorists, unlike that Clinton fellow". And yes, Rove is that "smart" to precisely time these things... and a *lot* of 'Mericans' are stupid enough to fall for it.

5. Yeah, at this juncture we gotta
take our good news where we can get it! I felt just fine reading nearly a whole page of nothing but bad news for ShrubCo. SG

8. No, I have to admit I just had
a quick once-over of the headlines before I posted (in haste to express my pleasure). Now I'm going back to read through the articles in depth. I certainly will read The Blog Box! SG
