When Did "Welfare Reform 2" Happen?
I was reading in the newspaper this morning that Bush just signed new Welfare Reform requirements into law mandating INCREASED work requirements for welfare recipients with LITTLE OR NO increase made in funding for childcare! My question is, WHEN did this get approved? I thought that this issue was still being debated! Did this get slipped surreptitiously into the recent budget bill by somebody (I wouldn't put it past somebody to do this, of course)? Did anybody else know THIS was part of the recent budget bill (or any other bill that Bush recently signed)?

1. Haven't you heard
There is no debate in WA...the repugs have pulled all of their dream legislation off the dusty shelves and are finally getting to screw the American public like they have always wanted to.

It will take years maybe beyond our lifetimes to repair the damage these people have done to this country.

2. Unfortunately True
Unfortunately, I am not all SURPRISED that this legislation went through, just outraged HOW it went through! But you're right, this IS more or less par for the course for GOP nowadays. I mean, God forbid our country has a genuine debate about matters directly affecting the livelihood of (a growing number of) US citizens, right? :eyes:

3. It went through as part of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005

More BS, balancing the budget on the backs of the working people and the poor.
