Anyone want to see how Jon Kyl (R-AZ) treats people who disagree with him
Now, I will preface this by saying that I earned a BA in Political Science. . .I'm getting a Master's Educational Leadership, will be continuing 24 Master's Credits past that to get Principal and Supertinendency certificate. . .then I will attempt my PhD in Political Science.

My concentration is Constitutional Law. I am a strict constructionist and a constutitonal fundamentalist of the highest order. I do believe in the implied right to privacy, since the 4th amendment hints at it in the first part.

Here's my interaction with Jon Kyl.

Warrantless wiretapping isn't in the 4th amendment, nor is it in Article 2. Jon Kyl's people told me "well, it isn't denied to the President either so he could have the power," in which I replied by stating amendment 10 and asking "since the constitution doesn't bar the pResident from raping nuns, does he have the power to do that? Kyl voted to impeach a man who lying to a grand jury about oral sex, and now Sen. Kyl is making up false reasons for a constitution destroying actions by the pResident? Has Sen. Kyl read the constitution and why does he hate America," in which I got hung up.

Now, I am a reseacher and part of the inner circle for a Congressional Candidate. You'd think I'd get treated with a little respect.

When my candidate wins and if I go to Washington with my candidate, I will be sure to thank Jon Kyl for instructing his people to hang up on people instead of working to make their opinions known and try to bring them over to their side.

At least McCain's people listened and I was forwarded to his AA, who is a rather polite, respectful person.

But Kyl is a fucking douche and I hope Pederson rips him apart!

2. well, really, what did you expect?
Why would you expect them to stay on the phone with you. What downside was there in hanging up on you. Is there a single person in the world who supports Jon Kyl who would mind? Of course not. Frankly, if I was a staffer for a progressive Democrat and someone called and said what you said, I'd hang up too, without the slightest trepidation.

onenote

PS -- Did you ask McCain's people why he hated America?

15. No, because his people didn't say
"I support the pResident 100%."

And. .. excuse me. Cry me a fucking river. These people question our loyalty and patriotism all the time and we fight back and tell them no. These people feel a little heat and hang up.

I use their tactics against them. They don't like it, change your playbook, GOP!

16. I have no problems with your tactics
But let's not pretend that you were insulted because they hung up on you "instead of working to make their opinions known and try to bring them over to their side." Is there anything they could've said to "bring you over" to their side? You know the answer is no. And I'm sure they knew the answer is no. So why waste time.

Again, I have no problem with you calling up Kyl or any other repub to give them a piece of your mind. But I don't expect them to spend time in a debate where you aren't going to change your mind and they aren't going to change yours. And I would expect and hope the staff of Democratic progressives, if they get a calls from a RWer who wants to give them a piece of their mind, don't spend a lot of time on the call.

17. Point taken. . .still, these people will spit in my face
I am a private citizen. It is my right to hang up on them. They are there by the grace of people and nothing more.

Even if they do get challenged in an unorthodox manner, hanging up on someone is still rude. They could have asked "is there a way we could convince you to our position?" I would have said "no, because your position is against the Constitution."

Then they could have said "I'm sorry you feel that way, but Sen. Kyl supports the pResident and we'll have to agree to disagree."

I would have argued, but accepted. Being cut off mid-sentence with a dial tone is rude!!!

19. true, sort of
In some larger sense, the person you spoke to has his/her job by the grace of the people. But in a very real sense, he/she has that job by the grace of the guy that hired him/her and of the people who "hired" that boss by voting for him. And while hanging up is definitely rude, telling someone that the person that gave him/her a job "hates AMerica" isn't exactly out of the book of etiquette either.

7. Kyl did?
I can't stand listening to him, he is so by the book, talking points, smug, and arrogant.

As a constituent I did write him to say what I thought of his reaction and Frist's to Reid taking the Senate into closed session.

I did ask for a response, and it was just talking points, blah blah. At least it wasn't rude.

Speaking of Reid taking the Senate into closed session, whatever became of the second half of that intelligence investigation?

8. Under the French system, as I understand it,
what's not specified as being against the law is okay. I"d think that any legislator would know that our system is fundamentally different. It's become increasingly apparent that they don't care and will just tell any lie or twist any truth to seem to justify their ways. Isn't this why Nixon was impeached?

11. It makes me absolutely crazy that so many Repugs
have no clue about the Constitution or the legal system. I suppose it's just more convenient for them not to know, but that doesn't excuse them. (But I do love it when some Dem lectures them on the House or Senate floor about the Constitution.)

I'd like to think they'd all be in jail if we ran both houses of Congress.

12. Hey! I just checked and the Constitution doesn't bar
the president OR Congress from eating toddlers, either!

OMG! Hide your children!

(Great comments SammyBlue. And that's reprehensible that they would just hang up. Elected officials need to remember their place--they are supposed to SERVE THOSE THEY ARE REPRESENTING!!!)

18. Oh good grief
How rude indeed. I may not be a McCain fan or supporter but at least he has nice staff people and isn't rude towards people whether in interviews etc. He's still a Bush kisser but geez, people should learn basic manners or something.

20. good grief indeed
Before you get all squishy about McCain, here's a challenge. Call up his office. Ask them if John McCain believes that the constitution allows the president to rape nuns. Then ask them "why does John McCain hate America".

Report back on how "nice" the response is.

21. Decorum
I rewrote what you said to represent the way in which I would have said it.

Warrantless wiretapping isn't in the 4th amendment, nor is it in Article 2. If Senator Kyl's staff feels "it isn't denied to the President either so he could have the power," in which I replied by stating amendment 10 and asking "since the constitution doesn't bar the pResident from home invasion, say on a US citizen, does he have that right? Kyl voted to impeach a man for lying to a grand jury about oral sex, and now Senator Kyle seems to be making up false reasons for a constitutional destroying action by the pResident? I am concerned about Senator Kyle's position in this matter, can he clarify it?"

At that point, as a constituent, they can't hang up on you. It's called tact.

22. I have no tact for these America hating, Constitution destroying scum
They hate my country and it shows in everything they say and do.

USA PATRIOT Act, supporting Alito, supporting warrantless domestic SPYING!

They will question my patriotism with missing a heartbeat. I will use their tactics against them?

"10 out of 10 terrorists support Kerry?" I feel I did to them what they do to me!
