Is this Brownie hearing pure theatre? |
|
O.K. my tinfoil hat is getting mighty tingly.
Correct me if I am wrong. How did we find out about Brownie's letter to White House council? I think we learned about it through the article in the Washington Post. How did the WP find out? Could it perhaps be because the WH 'WANTED' us to know about it? Did the WH leak the letter to the WP? Why would the WH want us to know that they were not going to give any cover to Brownie? My tinfoil hat is saying to me that possibly the WH wants us to believe that Brown is going to give them up. When in actuality he will not throw them under the bus. He will act angry and defensive. We will be satisfied with his answers because he has been painted as a scape goat that the WH is hanging out to dry. I think we are watching a Hollywood-like movie. I think the story line in the end will leave Bush untouched and the American people convinced that we witnessed a real hearing. My tinfoil hat says this hearing is pure theatre

3. Consider the nugget Viva_La_Revolution unearthed |

Douglass Cater, Washington newsman, in his excellent book, "The Fourth Branch of Government", brilliantly shows how many Congressional investigations simply are a technique for making and controlling news. Investigations, then, often are entertainment spectaculars created to attract public attention. They are a means of molding national opinion or creating fame for the investigators.
Cater wrote, "The most notable committee investigations are seldom point of fact 'investigations.' They are planned deliberately to move from a preconceived idea to a predetermined conclusion. The skill and resourcefulness of the chairman and sizable staff are pitted against any effort to alter its destined course. Whatever investigating is done takes place well in advance of the public hearing. The hearing is the final act in the drama. Its intent, by the staging of an arresting spectacle, is to attract public attention, to alarm or to allay, to enlighten, or yes, sometimes to obscure."

8. *LOL* No. I do NOT believe this is "pure theatre". |

Brown WAS scapegoated and hung out to dry. No doubt about that. I think your "tinfoil hat" is DEFINITELY on way WAY too tight.

The cronies with no creditials are there so they have someone to point the finger at when they need someone to blame. Otherwise, they collect a good paycheck and keep their heads below the radar. Brown did it very well for how many years until it was apparent to the whole country (and even corporate media) that he had no qualifications what so ever!
