Almost 1/2 of Afghanistan casualties due to "Non-hostile actions!" WTF?
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 02:02 AM by Up2Late
:wtf: I just found this at "The Washington Post's" website: <http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/world/casualties/facesofthefallen_freedom.htm>

"...U.S. service member who died while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom...

...Total fatalities: 253 (129 in hostile actions, 124 in non-hostile actions)..."

"...a collection of information about each U.S. service member who died while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom..." (at this link): <http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/world/casualties/facesofthefallen_freedom.htm>

Plus, Fatalities in Afghanistan DOUBLED in 2005!

AND, could someone please tell me how a 20 year old female Civil Affairs Specialist dies "of complications from diabetes after being evacuated from the Air Base at Bagram, Afghanistan!?!" On July 4th, 2004 no less! :banghead:

Would that be from lack of medical supplies or lack of available equipment (Helicopter)?

Sounds to me like * is NOT "Supporting our Troops" in Afghanistan.

Here's another link if you want a second source: <http://icasualties.org/oef/>

1. well, things like helicopter crashes
there have been several big ones, as I recall. Even if the helo is on a mission, if it isn't actually shot down, they call it non-hostile.

2. Well, according to icasualties.org, that accounts for 14 of them...
...which makes 110 other non-hostile causes. That's still makes almost 44% if you take away the non-hostel Helicopter crashes.

(icasualties.org has a filter feature for cause of death)

3. "of complications from diabetes"
Good point. Maybe she ate a huge piece of cake to get out of that hellhole.

Interesting, because I have a niece who lost her Army R.O.T.C. scholarship when she had a hypoglycemic episode. (???)
