Bush called it the "Liberty Tower" and everyone is covering for him....
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 05:00 PM by October
I was watching Jimmy Kimmel last night, and he often skewers GWB in his monologue. Last night he played the tape of GWB at the press conference. GWB clearly said the tallest tower on the West Coast, the "Liberty Tower." The camera went back to Kimmel, who is shrugging and everyone is laughing, and he said "Mr. President, the only problem is, there is no Liberty Tower..." (paraphrasing), and then added something like "Oh, maybe he meant the Library Tower." It was a very funny bit, if it weren't all so twisted that is.

GWB looked awful. Fuzzy hair, puffy face...and he screwed up BIG TIME, but everyone is covering for him!!!!!!!!!

Edited to add following link which mentions his latest screw-up:

3. Wanna bet --> Bush makes an Executive Order to rename it "Liberty Tower".
That way, he would become a "prophet".

5. Keith Olbermann
made a joke about it last night too. He wondered if it was a Freudian slip because W is so obsessed with liberty or if it was because he was so unacquainted with libraries.

6. One might think that he would correctly name something like this.
One might think that he might actually have practiced, or even bothered to learn what the name of "the tallest building on the west coast" that nearly got airplaned and OMG this might just save things for me see this is why spying works building was.

9. Or maybe he intentionally wanted to use the word "Liberty"
to subliminally drive the point home that only he can truly protect our American way of life?

Those terrorists were striking at Liberty!!

10. This is EXACTLY what I think he did...
And, of course, anyone who heard the correction is so used to his screwing up when speaking that they just took it as such. Just another screw up. And, of course, for those who didn't hear the correction it will forever remain the "Liberty" tower.

Ah, cynicism is still alive and well, isn't it?
