My LTTE on the unwarranted domestic spying:
George Bush has turned our National Security Agency into the secret police. They are listening to your phone calls. They have been doing it since well before September 11th. This unwarranted intrusion into your privacy is a violation of the Constitution, and a direct violation of the FISA statute.

Ask yourself this: If the spying had anything to do with stopping terror attacks, why didn't Bush stop September 11th? Our Government, it's now known, had plenty of recordings of Al Qaeda operatives talking about it; they just didn't do anything with them.

Ask yourself this too: If the spying had anything to do with stopping terror attacks, why was Bush so afraid of requesting warrants from the special anti-terror court specifically set up to authorize wiretaps against terrorists? The FISA Court has a perfect track record, and almost never denies a warrant. What was he afraid of telling them? They have never violated secrecy requirements, so that's not the reason. More likely, he was afraid to admit he was ordering politically-motivated domestic spying.

Bush's spying has nothing to do with stopping terrorists, and everything to do with suppressing his political opponents. It's just one more naked and frightening power grab committed by this power-hungry madman.

He's right about one thing: This is a national security issue. Our national security and our sacred Constitution demand that Bush be stopped from taking on one illegitimate power after another.

So it's official. George Bush went on TV and confessed to over thirty counts of impeachable offenses (ordering illegal spying on you and me). Worse yet, he promised to keep on doing it until we stop him. The time has come to stop him. The Constitution (remember that "quaint" document?) provides us only one remedy: impeachment.
