LTTE discussion of Intelligent Design and Evolution
http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/news/editorial/13846439.htm

All the letters today are on the subject.

Here's a good one in favor of science:

With 18 years of experience as a science professor, I see no core of science in intelligent design.

A requirement of a scientific theory is that it offer hypotheses or predictions that are testable. Intelligent design does not offer even one, and frankly, how could it?

What scientific equipment can we use to measure God's presence? We can't see God in a microscope or telescope. We can't measure God's warmth with an infrared detector. We can't record God's presence in a synchrotron.

The theory of evolution does not negate the existence of God. It is completely silent on God. It is every person's right to accept intelligent design as a personal philosophy, but it is not science-based and therefore must not be taught in science classrooms.

1. Many well written letters - the one you chose I agree with and I hope
the readers of the Lexington, Ky newspaper read through the selection.

Why is it always on Saturday that the interesting stuff gets printed? Just kidding of course - but I like editorials that show all sides and chose well written letters.
