Dear Bull Moose, who's getting talking points from whom?
I have publicly stated here that I will work to change the party by staying with it. I have said I will still criticize, but try to change it without leaving it.

But come on, Bull Moose, since you don't even claim to be a Democrat, but an independent, then I feel quite comfortable with this criticism of you. Here are the talking points I have heard all over the media this week, and I wonder who is getting them from whom? You are an official mouthpiece for the DLC think tank, and you really should go easy on the criticism of Democrats.

Here are several quotes from you at your blog this week with which I disagree or take issue. I have heard the same from media talking heads on the GOP side.

http://bullmooseblogger.blogspot.com/

I don't like your criticizing our Democrats on National Security. It is wrong. The Bush administration and the Republicans are the bad guys here. Your statements about Democrats in this paragraph are inexcusable at the Democratic blog.

As the New York Times reported the other day, there is a palpable fear in Democratic insider circles that the party will not be able to fully capitalize on Republican missteps.

That concern is warranted as the party exposed all of its weaknesses on national security in the past few months. The only solace that the Democrats can take is that congressional elections may turn on the GOP's misfortunes. However, as the Democrats look to 08, if they don't get their act together on defending the country they may be shut out of the White House for another four years.

And you, sir, should have your hands spanked for these ugly comments about President Carter at the Coretta King funeral. You should be ashamed.

The Coretta Scott King's funeral was a moving tribute to a great American. However, it was marred by the inappropriate and disgraceful intrusion of partisan politics. It was particularly irresponsible and graceless that a former President exploited the occasion to attack a sitting President.

President Carter has performed laudable humanitarian work in his post White House years. However, this was not one of his finest moments. It was a mean, petty performance unworthy of the office he once held. President Carter spoke as if he were an embittered diarist on a well-known left wing blog site.

There are several other comments I disagree with, but that one made me so angry I think I will stop for now. Maybe a few more later.

You, sir, most certainly do NOT sound like any Democrat I want to know.

The Bull Moose blog is one of three listed in the DLC blog family. The DLC is not a part of the Democratic National Committee, and last I looked does not even link to it. It is a think tank.

1. I have to add just one more, the Bull Moose attack on MoveOn
and other assorted liberals. This one sounds like the effort you guys waged during the campaign in 04 to paint Howard Dean as a raging liberal, when you knew he had governed as a centrist.

This is not nice at all. I did not bother to highlight because all of it is insulting.

Conservatives should not be the prime defenders of international liberal values. Progressives can bring an important moral witness to the fight against Jihadism - just as hawkish liberals such as Humphrey and Meany did during the Cold War. But, despite the vile brutality and the raging mobs of radical Islam, too many lefties view that the main threat to their values is the person who sits in the Oval Office or clear sighted progressives such as Joe Lieberman.

Sorry Mr. and Ms. Moveon and your lefty allies. You are blissfully ignoring the greatest threat to our nation's freedom and security which is the deeply reactionary force of radical Islam. Nixonism is long dead but Jihadism is alive. Since Moveon has perfected the morph ad, how about one transforming Ahmadinejad into Hitler? That would defy the CW about you folks!

2. Bull Moose pushing meme of angry partisan Democrats.
I really meant to post this in GDPolitics, just realized what I had done. Oh, well.

Here is what the Bull Moose had to say being partisan, and I don't like it.

http://bullmooseblogger.blogspot.com/2006/02/no-refuge.html

It is hard to believe that Americans are not tiring of the cheap shots and political gamesmanship. If even a former President of the United States cannot restrain himself from misbehaving at a funeral in order to satisfy a partisan urge, what can we expect of the rest of our political class?

Democrats, in particular, must find a way to come to grips with their unrestrained Bush rage. A few years ago Republicans were similarly consumed by Clinton rage. A decent modicum of respect for the Office and the moment is in order. And a funeral is not a place to make partisan political points.

Sometimes, just sometimes, partisanship should be avoided and shunned.

I feel very partisan and very angry about what this administration has done to this country. I am sorry to see this is being pushed at a Democratic think tank by a ex Christian Coalition lobbyist who worked for Pat Robertson. It outrages me.
