Laura Bush Go HOME!!! In Italy today!
A video plays at the link.....

Feb. 11 - Students staged an anti-Bush demonstration in the Winter Olympic city of Turin on Saturday during the official visit of the US First Lady Laura Bush.

Security was tight outside her first port-of-call, the University building, where some students were not backing the demonstration.

"These protests are absurd and completely useless," said one woman. "They should be working rather than protesting about everything."

The demonstration was peaceful and Mrs Bush's motorcade arrived without incident.

Said one protestor: "We are protesting here outside the University because the presence of these individuals in a place that represents critical thought and Turin's culture, are not welcome.

"They are a symbol of war, of exploitation, of oppression for many people around the world like, especially in the last few years Iraq, Afghanistan, the Palestinian Occupied Territories. This is why today, we have decided to demonstrate outside Palazzo Nuovo (Turin's University), to prevent Laura Bush and the wars she simbolizes, from entering our university.

Can ya blame the kid? Here she is, at the Olympics, with all those fine young athletes strolling about, partying, having a blast, and she's stuck with Ma and Tony's old lady....

7. I really like the label that the demonstrators laid on
them "symbols of war". We need to adopt that label, it is a keeper for sure.

10. I read once
that martini's were the drink of choice of the evening.

If anyone has Lexus Nexus, I'd love to find the article that mentioned this little tidbit. It was in SW FL Ft Myers or Naples when the Bush family went to Gasparilla Island for Christmas 2000. In one of the local papers laying around IHOP, was an article about the their vacation, saying that W played golf and fished that day and then in the evening he went to the store for a bottle of gin for his evening martini. I swear, that's what it said. I read the paragraph to my husband cause I could believe what I was reading.

At least in this particular article because they were asking about what W had done that day since he was the new President-elect.

9. Couldn't help but wonder what they thought of all the "peaceniks"
last night on the opening ceremony roster. I figured Laura was looking up the word "peace" in her dictionary to figure out what they were talking about. Do you think they left early or did they sit through Peter Gabriel and Yoko Ono? I'm sure they were wishing they were in Wisconsin when they made the white dove out of the aerial acrobats' bodies. There is open season on those pesky doves here (I'm not kidding).

Leave Italy NOW Bush Crime Family!

13. I just read in the NY Times
that poor little Laura only had one friend to sit with:

" So what happened to the United States' position as prom king? In the sophomoric world of the I.O.C., some preferences are decided by who is cool at the moment. Right now, it isn't hip to love America.

Part of this is the obvious. The geopolitical climate has left America as an outcast and left First Lady Laura Bush sitting with her only friend at the opening ceremony last night: Cherie Blair, her British equivalent.

But there is more than just world politics at play. This is "Revenge of the World Nerds." Many countries are envious of America's wealth of medals and its large slice of the revenue. "

I guess her daughter doesn't count - she probably cannot stand the Joker either.

The Bush Family should keep an entire wing reserved ... if even that would be enough.

19. What an utter and complete waste!
When I think of the many millions for whom the opportunity to attend such events would be the thrill of a lifetime and see the disdain with which such elitist ignorati regard those around them, a wave of nausea washes over me. These over-privileged brain-dead invariably form the nucleus of a black hole into which good will and the joy of sport is vacuumed. Such venues should prohibit, on pain of death, putting such self-centered exhibitionists on camera. They should be relegated to seats behind poles (or Czechs). They go to suck the attention, not celebrate sport and human endeavor. The commercial and political exploitation of the dedication and skills of others knows no bounds.
