Is it because they voted for Pubs like the Gulf States?

EDIT BY DEMAND: :sarcasm:

1. I am sure that Pat Robertson...
will be silent on the condemnations on this front. Somehow it is only the wrath of God when the natural disasters hit blue areas that he spews such irrational cr*p. Yet his followers repeat his claims - but are also strangely silent on these other tragedies and don't seem to get that either these tragedies are ALL about God's wrath, or none of them are about God's wrath.

14. I thought of Pat Robertson the moment I heard of the horrible fires.
I knew he'd step forward and say the fires are their punishment for their sinning ways. :sarcasm:

Ha! Rampaging fires are just an act of nature but a hurricane is god's wrath. Robertson is such an asshat.

He once asked people to pray that God turn a hurricane away from Virginia...which would mean it would just hit somewhere else, but that's not his problem!

2. I'm sick of people who take such joy in our misery.
Do you really think that all the people who have lost their homes voted for Bush? Either you're a really depraved person who enjoys seeing others suffer, or you're incredibly thick-headed.

3. I'm tired of these types of comments that gloat at the misfortune
of people who are experiencing natural disasters and tie it into their voting preferences.

Just STOP it.

There are lots of Democrats in these states, including, of course, Texas. And it isn't funny to go outside and smell smoke and wonder if a raging plains wildfire is heading for you.

What makes that kind of comment any better than Pat Robertson or Bill O'Reilly's nutbaggery?

6. You should probably put a "sarcasm" indicator in your message.
Yes, it was OBVIOUS, but there are people who haven't had their morning caffeine yet, and they don't get the point that you DON'T think they are "on fire" because of their voting patterns, but are simply drawing attention to the obvious hypocrisy spewed by the right when they declare natural disasters to be part of the "Punitive Punishment Plan" -- the obvious inference about "looks like the fires of hell" isn't apparent to those who would rather chastise your Political Incorrectness.

Again, caffeine is good, and I'm sure they will figure it out eventually, but if you could make it easier on them....? Thanks!

35. Not a problem; and thanks for the presents!
High stress levels sometimes mean folks look for someone to beat up on when they are feeling powerless (hence the accusations of "insensitivity" on your part). :eyes:

Its tough times for our peeps these days; good thing there isn't enough evidence to show any truth to all that "crazy" climate change "nonsense" those Liberal Scientists keep spewing. Why, if we all hold a good old fashioned "come to Jeezus" meeting, I'm sure the weather will soon turn back to normal, as Everything Must Be Because of ALL THE SINNING and Stuff.

Heaven forbid increasing levels of pollutions in the atmosphere have anything to do with it -- why, that's just ... just ... demanding the human race take (shudder) RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR ACTIONS!!!! Next we'll have to start FIXING THE PROBLEM instead of blaming GOD!!! (swoon)

NOTE: I'm putting the :sarcasm: indicator on! :)

13. The question isn't about "getting" the joke-it's about empathy
If Morans like O'Reilly and Robertson choose to tell stupid pointless tripe about God or whatever punishing states due to their lifestyle choices, we rightly ridicule them (or avoid them for being fools).

Right now, in Texas, there hasn't been rain for months. The grass and trees are tinder dry, and an action as thoughtless as throwing a cigarette butt out the window could start a prairie fire that is out of control. It's just not funny, and at least until after it RAINS here, maybe people could refrain from the thoughtless Har-de-Har jokes.

16. Picking A Nit Here
But, aren't you talking about sympathy. I can't be empathic about it unless i've experienced it too. I can sympathize with a drought stricken area, but unless i lived through it i don't think it's possible for me to empathize.

18. No, I was talking about empathy-in a general sense-maybe
that's the problem. The poster has never experienced, perhaps, a natural disaster, that put life, limb and property at risk and so can't relate to those who are going through that right now. I don't think it requires being in a potential raging wildfire situation to have empathy if one has, for example, been through a tornado or hurricane.

Not sympathy. Not asking for someone to feel sorry about this, but to back OFF from the jokes and at least PRETEND that sarcasm here is misplaced.

24. I'm with you-I have two times this week walked out and smelled smoke
and have seen it in the sky. Two days ago a town in the Texas panhandle burned to the ground. All of it. Yesterday I was in a neighboring town and an entire subdivision there burned to the ground. A fire can start anywhere, anytime, and it won't require a wind to fuel it, but it doesn't help that the prairie winds are blowing fast the last week.

For people who don't live in these states, maybe this is a hilarious point for sarcastic humor. But I wish they would just STOP.

Tractor available to move grass away from home?

Got your precious things packed and ready to flee?

Help from friends neighbors?

36. I thought the poster was making a very clever / not subtle commentary on
hypocrisy, ignorance and stupidity; there was also some nice inference on Spiritual Abuse (to believe this tripe, you have to think "God is an abusive asshole with a big whack-a-mole stick aimed at YOU!!!") as a way of controlling the uninformed / gullible. "Stupid pointless tripe" was nowhere near what I got out of the original post.

But I'm sorry you are under such stress at the moment. Here's a hug, and a quick prayer for rain!

30. Stop the condemnation of "red" states to fire, hurricane, flood, drought,
dust bowls and plagues of locusts, until we've gotten rid of our faith-based voting system. Then you may, to your heart's content, condemn them to suffer God's wrath for voting for George Bush. But not before.

Really. We have no idea how the so-called "red" states voted. Eighty percent of the vote was tabulated by two Bushite corporations (Diebold and ES&S), using "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code--code so secret that not even our secretaries of state are permitted to review it--with virtually no audit/recount controls. The war profiteering corporate news monopolies then confirmed this faith-based vote tabulation by "adjusting" their own, independent exit polls (which Kerry won) to "fit" the result of Diebold's and ES&S's secret formulae (Bush won)--late on election day, on everybody's TV screens (after an hourlong "breakdown" of the reporting system)--thus denying the American people major evidence of election fraud, and depriving us of the one election verification tool that we had, that is used worldwide to monitor elections and check for fraud.

I will not concede even Texas and Mississippi to George Bush, until we have restored transparent elections.
