I bet they didn't tell Bush on Monday night because he was at a fundraiser |

I think Michael Brown called Hagin whereever he was, Crawford or San Diego, and I think they videoconferenced to whoever was still left at the WH, and Rove was in and out of the room at one of those locations, and all these second bananas decided not to tell Bush that the levee had broken because he had a fundraiser to attend that night that was more important than the people of New Orleans, or, worse, they did tell Bush and he was not moved enough to forget his fundraiser and get on top of things. And I am sort of idly wondering where Abramoff was that night, although probably the fundraiser was mainly for west coast fatcats.
So I think fundraising was more important to Bush & Rove than trying to save lives in an epic natural disaster.

1. does it make sense to anyone else |
|
that Bush, Cheney, Rover, Condo were all on vacation at the same time? Doesn't anyone stay home to mind the store?

5. Many of them were at Julie Meirs' wedding |
|
in Greece. Why would they want to give up a great trip--even if it was to a sweltering location.

and who went to the wedding? so these people just left the whole government leaderless while they vacationed and when disaster struck no one was in charge.

9. Julie Myers -- okay, sorry I misspelled it the |
|
first time--is the new head of Immigration, niece of the out-going head of the joint chiefs of staff and bride of Ch*ertoff's chief of staff. There is quite a bit out there about her, as the appointment, shall we say, was controversial--croneyism and incompetence were issues. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/19/AR2005091901930.html

2. I think at that point Abramoff was already embroiled in his |
|
attempts at saving his own skin. As for informing the blivet, I get the impression he has a massive temper and wouldn't have liked being interrupted. He did just escape Crawford and Cindy; maybe he was trying to salvage his summer to the detriment of the suffering on the gulf coast. Whatever the case, they done screwed up royally and this too doesn't appear to be going away. While I wish Katrina never happened, I want those responsible for total neglect to pay. :grr:

Left them to fend for themselves. Couldn't be bothered.
