No wonder Daschle is out of work.
On Meet the Press, instead of boldly interrupting these liars, he just sits there and shakes his head while they run all over the top of him.

1. Daschle is like that pitcher you want to root for but who somehow
never developed that sizzling roundhouse curve he needs to fan sluggers.

Hell of a nice guy but too-often ineffectual senator.

2. Well, he's finally speaking up now.
He's just a little bit too polite. Drives me crazy; I'm sitting here screaming at the tv. :)

13. I would still prefer Daschle to Thune but not Daschle to Kucinich or
Harkin or Kennedy or Dodd or Edwards or Boxer or Cuomo or a host of other Democrats past and present.

You nailed it with his being too polite.

3. I like Daschle, but he's become an anacronism
Good man, but the world changed, and left him behind.

6. They are talking about wiretapping and FISA
and Roberts keep saying that FISA doesn't work because of the back logs. Also says that president has constitutional authority over all and any laws (WHAT??? wasn't that their big scream against Clinton?) Daschle replied that they can go to FISA after the fact, but Roberts keeps denying that.

9. He's pussyfooting around the wiretap issue. He can't really talk about
the briefings yet he and Jane Harman are offering appeasements, after the fact, for changing the law. Not really addressing FOLLOWING THE EXISTING LAW.

If I've misheard someone please correct me but this is a most frustrating segment.

But they've probably ALL BEEN WIRETAPPED BY NOW and shaking in their shoes.

Yes, I know about the anthrax. He's still completely weak, and thus, totally misreads Americans.

15. Daschle is out of work because he opposed Bush too strongly
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 10:43 AM by Cocoa
he would have had a much easier time in SD if he were a Ben Nelson type.

edit to say the better thing to do is to oppose Bush and lose if necessary.

17. Roberts: Can I say something?
Why not? He hasn't shut up through the whole show, and timmy has made no attempt to shut him up and allow the others to talk.

18. Roberts kept interrupting Carl Levin at a hearing last week
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 10:56 AM by Cocoa
it was ridiculous and childish, and Levin looked like he had to restrain the impulse to get up and go over to Roberts and smack him.

edit with video link from the great CanOFun.
