but she has surprised me on several issues that have come up. For one, she was deeply distrustful of John Bolton going to the UN, and I believe she had some worries about Roberts on the Supreme Court, too, if I remember right. I also know that, at least as a state representative, she was pro-choice. While she goes along with Ted on ANWR and the bridge money, economic issues that impact Alaska, I think she's a lot more liberal than he is on social issues. I also appreciate that she (or her staff) responds to my mail as if she's actually read it, not just a form response. She may turn out to be one of the "good" Republicans.

By the way, did you see her with John Stossel on that "myth-buster" show he did a few days ago? He was talking with her about fiscal waste in the Republican-led USA and jacking her up about all the money that comes to Alaska. She was quite gracious with him, I thought, didn't get defensive, and actually copped to the idea that maybe -- just maybe -- Alaska's museums aren't deserving of any more money than other state's museums. I thought she handled herself quite well and with humor. I like her a hundred times better than her dad, although I'm keeping a close eye on her.
