Cheney Shooting Victim Part of 1999 Bush Cover-up
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 04:32 PM by louis c

11/9/2001

Austin- A former state funeral home regulator who said she was wrongfully fired for investigating a large funeral home chain operated by a longtime family friend of George W. Bush has settled her 2-year old whistle-blower lawsuit for $210,000.

<snip>
Harry Whittington of Austin, who was named presiding officer of the Funeral Service Commission after a major shakeup of the agency in 1999, said his board reluctantly agreed to pay $50,000 as part of the settlement to end the 2-year-old case.

3. Bush supposedly lied under oath at a deposition taken in that case
when asked whether he ever met with the CEO of the gigantic funeral services company (reportedly the largest funeral services company in the nation) regarding the firing of the government employee who was investigating him. Bush's testimony was contradicted by other witnesses who were present when Bush allegedly told the CEO he would take care of the matter. Shortly after that meeting, the employee was fired.

4. One from the graveyard
Amazing. Simply amazing.
After all of the crap foisted upon us from this bunch, even an accident reveals more scandals.
There's a joke about an exceptionally intelligent or skilled person that such a person "forgot more about (a subject) than we'll ever know".
Well in this administration, they've forgotten about more scandals they are connected to than we'll ever know!

6. Whittington

agreed to legally pay "hush money" to settle this case.

Although, it appears that Whittington did nothing illegal, tax-payers' money was ponied up to end an embarrassing case before W's Presidential bid.

Whittington served a purpose and obviously continues to have tremendous clout within the Administration. Of course, other than yesterday's bad luck.
