Is the media coming out of their coma?
My husband believes they are but I do not think they are. There may be one or two articles here and there but it hardly seems, to me, to be as rosy as he seems to think it is.

My husband and I argued, today, that if any big Dem (Gore, Clinton, Kerry - not Conyers) spoke up and said the 'I' word then it would be all over the papers. He said the same about the Republicans as well, by the way. I said he is crazy and they would still never print anything like that.

I do see more and more op-ed pieces and I see an article here and there but hardly anything that seems to indicate the press is coming out of their coma.

I have been mostly away from my computer for the last week and a half because my kids have been sick but I do not think I am missing that much. What say you?

1. I'm on your side, except
I don't think it is or ever was a coma. It's orders. If--I might even say when--they finally turn on Bush, it will be because the Big Guys have decided he's a liability. I think it happened to Poppy, and I think it'll happen to Junior. Clinton was a DLC "acceptable" Democrat, so they ran him in for a couple of terms. Now I suspect they're setting up Hillary for the same kind of job. That's why we keep hearing so much about her putative candidacy despite the fact that most real Dems don't really want her.

6. I also think it was orders but I used the word coma.
I say coma because they might as well be in one with what the are 'reporting'. I do believe there are orders (or at least intimidation but can not decide how it is all exactly working. I just know I believe there is no such thing as a free press in the USA.

3. You're right. The media have to see a up-side before they jump ship.
Right now, the deals they cut with the Chimp Productions is still paying off.

4. Gore said everything BUT the I-word last month
when he spoke in Washington DC. But the media gave him barely any coverage.

10. I noticed that as well.
My husband thinks if he had just said that one word it would be splashed over all the newspapers. He has much more faith than I do.

A very stubborn case of brain damage.

8. A few Corp Media Moguls are starting to realize that
the bargain that they made with the Neo Fascist Devil's wasn't so great. The Neo Fascists do not honor their bargains.

Does anyone think that the illegal wiretapping was only on al Q?

9. I do see some signs that could be interpreted that way, but I'm
only observing the signs, not counting on anything.

There was a very interesting interview in a recent Newsweek with some top producers, Ron Howard, Spielberg, Clooney, the guy who made Brokeback, maybe more.

Spielberg said it was like they'd gotten their marching orders after the election.

I had been thinking that the film media is turning up the heat. That's good.

It's happening in tv dramas too.

I heard references to totalitarian state on NPR this week.

On 60 minutes the story of the billions of money missing, and war profiteering finally hit the MSM. Franken's been talking about it for years.

My concern is that the rising awareness will not rise swiftly enough to meet the ever-rising tide of the totalitarian exec branch.

That "our side" will always be a step behind, one step too late. Too late to actually effect real change.
