Mr. Whittington and a woman trampeled by the president's horse...
The bloodred neocons likely love Dick Cheney and may not think much less of him as a result of this shooting incident. From reports, it sounds as if Mr. Whittington will survive.

It put me in the mind of Franklin Pierce, known to enjoy his liquor, who lost control of his horse in a procession and inadvertently trampeled a woman bystander.

He was reported to have been so drunk that he was unaware of the damage done to the woman. "You know how I am after I've had a snootful," the president is reported to have replied.

The horse-trampeling incident is referenced in the article cited below.

1. And, of course, Bab's is a descendant of Pierce
The irony.

Bush, too, is a a very indirect relation to Pierce. The links are somewhere here on DU.

Pierce and Barbara Bush share a common ancestor, thus President George W. Bush is not only related to Pierce, but in some photos (as with the one on this page) there is an observable facial resemblance between the two

3. Yes. They're both related, Barbara I think closer than George.
Same bad blood in any case.
