idea for a plank in the Democratic platform . . .
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 02:27 AM by OneBlueSky
rescind the Bush tax cuts for millionaires, and use the resulting income to rebuild and repatriate New Orleans and the Gulf Coast . . . including state-of-the-art flood control . . .

a crystal-clear demonstration of what Democrats value, imo . . . the welfare of the many rather than the wealth of the few . . .

1. That surely could be part of the fund use, but it would supply
far more $$ than would be needed in NO!

3. that's okay . . . if there's money left over, fine . . . but the idea . .
is to present the American voters with a "yes-able" proposition by linking these two issues . . . one that sharply draws the distinction between us and them . . .

the question Americans will have to ask themselves is "which is more important?" . . . and it's going to be damn hard to make the case that the tax cuts are more important than helping hundreds of thousands of people, a major US city, and a devastated region . . .

and when talking about helping the Katrina recovery, Republicans will no longer be able to ask "but where will the money come from?" without looking like fools . . .
