1. IMO, it matters more that law-writing representatives got $$$.

Compared to what other crooks gifted Bush with (think Ken Lay), Abramoff's direct donation isn't as significant.

What's more topical in this case is the inappropriate financial influence Abramoff exerted over those reps who actually had the power to make law, provide access and hire his friends and family.

I've noticed that, too. Perhaps like many others, I'm focused more right now on who gets directly hit with the shrapnel when Abramoff squeals. I would particularly like to see The Hamper get handed another indictment.

Dubya's certainly involved, and the $34K proves that. But this particular point might be more in the spotlight later.

In another development, you might have noticed that an Enron accountant has recently agreed to testify against Ken Lay. Remember, our Chimp in Chief was once good buddies with Kenny Boy, as he called him at the time, but then decided he never knew him after the Enron scandal broke. Maybe we'll now get to find out just what good buddies they were.
