"Buy us Back Chirac" - Mardi Gras season is on in the Big Easy
Saturday night the Krew De Viex strolled through the french quarter with katrina being the target of their satirical wit and charm with themes such as:

- Home is Where the Tarp is
- A Day at the Breach
- Fridge over troubled water
- What's in your fridge?
- The Krewe of Spermes was expected to do something premature
- FEMA's just another word for nothing left to lose
- Attention K-Mart looters
- C'est Levee

And on and on and on. Mardi Gras will climax on bourbon street at midnight two weeks from tomorrow.

4. Signs and costumes
One krewes costumes were entirely blue tarps. They said they got a special deal from a FEMA sub--ub-sub-sub-sub contrctor and that the material was only $985 a yard. The sense of humor of many is still intact.

If we can't laugh at our misfortunes, they will kill us inside. I lived in St. Thomas after Hugo (1998) and we all have cisterns there, no plumbed in water. Well, the salt water mixed with our fresh water supply, so we had to pump it all and wait for it to refill before we could have running water (it took a couple of months)

We filled up trash cans from the rains to bathe, flush and wash clothes in. My ex-husband and I called it my "Laura Ingalls phase". Everything was done by hand with no refrigeration, either. Thankfully, I was just out of college and used to living like a student. If it happened now, it would feel like much more of a hardship.

Ahhh, good times!

5. Wear comfortable shoes
and clothes you wouldn't mind throwing away afterwards. You'll have a great time.

7. Too funny!
That is how people survive tragedy with sanity in tact. Humor. :toast:
