RawStory: Outed CIA officer was working on Iran, intelligence sources say
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 12:04 PM by Roland99
No longer 'Developing...'

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Outed_CIA_officer_was_working_on_0213.html

The unmasking of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson by White House officials in 2003 caused significant damage to U.S. national security and its ability to counter nuclear proliferation abroad, RAW STORY has learned.

According to current and former intelligence officials, Plame Wilson, who worked on the clandestine side of the CIA in the Directorate of Operations as a non-official cover (NOC) officer, was part of an operation tracking distribution and acquisition of weapons of mass destruction technology to and from Iran.

Speaking under strict confidentiality, intelligence officials revealed heretofore unreported elements of Plame's work. Their accounts suggest that Plame's outing was more serious than has previously been reported and carries grave implications for U.S. national security and its ability to monitor Iran's burgeoning nuclear program.

While many have speculated that Plame was involved in monitoring the nuclear proliferation black market, specifically the proliferation activities of Pakistan's nuclear "father," A.Q. Khan, intelligence sources say that her team provided only minimal support in that area, focusing almost entirely on Iran.

2. Or not...depends on who these "intelligence officials" are.
Could be something to dissuade people from thinking she was covert.

10. Brewster Jennings was her work and that was outed by a second Novak
column 8 days after the original column by Novakula outing Plame/Wilson, is it possible that this is a different project a more serious one? I can't imagine one more serious than Brewster Jennings(tracked WMD proliferation), but who knows what Rawstory has.

Gotta keep the Cheney/neocon ties to AQ Khan under wraps.

And, this allows the neocons to control the propaganda surrounding Ira without "interference" from that pesky ol' CIA.

33. Here ya go (John Stanton has some links via Madsen also)...
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Mar05/Stanton0310.htm

It’s 2005 and the US State Department has reported that Turkey remains one of the premier players in the world’s drug trade. “Turkey remains a major route, and storage, production and staging area, for the flow of heroin to Europe. Turkish-based traffickers and brokers operate in conjunction with narcotics smugglers, laboratory operators, and money launderers in and outside Turkey…Turkish-based traffickers control much of the heroin marketed to Western Europe.” Such a well established and efficient network has always been ideal for moving nuclear weapons components around the world and that effort continues unabated to this day.*** The high-altitude breathers in US government and industry could care less and they joke while diligent field agents around the globe follow dead ends confined in safely classified compartments.

<snip>

Deal of the Century

Pakistan’s nuclear weapons technology acquisition program apparently piggybacked on Turkey’s heroin trafficking expertise -- an expertise established long before 1972. Pakistan could afford the price tag since it was being paid for by Turkish-laundered drug money with the technology invariably stolen by Pakistani and Turkish operatives working through “semi-legitimate” groups in the USA and elsewhere.

No operation of this scope or magnitude could go unnoticed by the US government, particularly since in Turkey’s case, the CIA had been conducting Post WWII “stay-behind” operations for at least 50 years.

If such activity was exposed, albeit indirectly through a nuclear test and then a translator like Sibel Edmonds, it sure would be easy enough to blame a failure to detect it (just like 911) on a lack of human intelligence or the “peace dividend” that the end of the Cold War brought, or claim “State Secret” if someone like Edmonds were to see the goods and ask questions. Then again, there is the “compromising ongoing intelligence/military operations” rationale but that moniker has been used and abused so many times that its usage is comedic.

In the end, no matter how the story is spun, it threatens to implicate the high and mighty in government and business in the USA, Turkey and Pakistan, and who knows how many assorted intelligence groups around the globe.

<snip>

Americans need to know that your government is not only downplaying this but covering it up. You go to bed with our ISI. They know how to suck up to you. You let us get away with everything. Why can’t you be more honest? There’s no harm in telling us the truth—‘Look, you’re an ally but a very disturbing ally.’ You have to nip some of these things in the bud…The former senior American intelligence official was equally blunt. He told me, “Khan <“Father of the Pakistani bomb”> was willing to sell blueprints, centrifuges, and the latest in weaponry. He was the worst nuclear-arms proliferator in the world and he’s pardoned—with not a squeak from the White House.”

They should not be trusted with any intelligence. Not only Plume, but this:

"The disclosure to reporters of the arrest of an al-Qaeda computer expert allowed several wanted suspects from Osama bin Laden's terror network to escape, government and security officials said on Tuesday.

Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan, a 25-year-old Pakistani computer engineer, was nabbed in a July 13 raid in the eastern city of Lahore. He then led Pakistani authorities to a key al-Qaeda figure and cooperated secretly by sending e-mails to terrorists so investigators could trace their locations"

Now it is purported that Plame had been working on Iran for some time in an attempt to build a case for Iran.

Maybe there was no "there" there?

And now the neocons, with the CIA out of the way, can enlist their Iran-Contra buddies (like Ghorbanifar), to create some new evidence?

27. Wash. Note: Notes from Joseph Wilson's Niger trip showed Iran activity???
http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/archives/001246.php

Someone with knowledge of the classified report that Joe Wilson "orally" filed after his now famed investigative trip to Niger shared with me that there were two notes in that report that had nothing to do with Iraq and its purported activities in Niger.

These two notes focused on Iran's interests and possible activities in Niger.*

The question is "why would Iran be interested in Niger uranium when it has more than adequate domestic sources of uranium?"

The response that has come from various intelligence sources that TWN has consulted is that if Iran was trying to access external sources of uranium -- somewhere like Niger -- it is because those "secret efforts" would be outside the international intelligence monitoring of Iran's domestic mining operations.

Hmm...perhaps there *was* something sinister going on re: Iran? And, if so, why would this administration risk damaging its ability to keep tabs on Iran by outing Plame and, thus, destroying the cover of Brewster Jennings and other covert agents?

plundered, pillaged, and destroyed the United States. They are Nazis, literally, with absolutely zero allegiance to America. ZERO.
Their only allegiance is to money and power...and Satan/Woden/Thoth/whomever. They love, nay, crave, violence, bloodshed, suffering, murder, and mayhem.
Of all of this, I am convinced.

Drug use. Alcoholism. Secret rituals.
Pedophilia and homosexuality would not surprise me, either.
