When I first met my husband, 25 years ago he was in the
naval reserve. He quit that unit about 20 years ago, and I remember thinking shoot, there goes a nice military pension......we just found out that his unit, the C-Bee's (construction battalion), is going over to Iraq!! Forget that stupid pension.

4. There are already Seabees in Iraq
A bunch of them stationed near the shithole known as Ramadi.

Been there for quite a while, working up airfileds and helicopter pads, etc.

5. My old Reserve Unit probably was one of the first to go..
245th PSYOP. We had interrogators and translators (a multitude of languages from Russian to Arabic).

8. No, he got out 8 years prior to retirement.....
so they can't call him back, and he won't get a pension either. I didn't ask him the name of the unit so don't know which unit it is going.....from La Crosse Wisconsin.

7. No kidding.
My husband was an officer in the army and got out when we got married. Before he was discharged, he tried convincing me how great it would be if we had some extra money from the reserves.

No thanks!

11. My ex husband, who got a GENERAL discharge from the Navy
in 1979 - got a letter last week. No kidding...I ran into him at the grocery store and he was pretty shook up..it was not a "report for duty" letter, but it was a "you might be required to report for duty" warning type letter. He was stunned he even received ANYTHING after 27 years out.

With a GENERAL discharge (he was in trouble a lot growing up, that is what landed him in the Navy to begin with)

13. Not sure, however, if they send him notice to report, then certainly yes
and a General discharge is not the same as an honorable discharge..it is like one step above a dishonorable discharge. It is not with honor, yet it is not dishonorable.

He is buggin, trust me. Talking about moving to BC.
