I wondered, what is it they're not covering that's really important? Or have events since 2000 just made me too paranoid?

Don't think so. What exactly should the media have been reporting instead of covering wildfires that are destroying hundreds of homes and some tragic accidents (collapsed roof and trapped miners)?
Its not some conspiracy, its the way its always been. If it bleeds, it leads.
