Bush Knew SATURDAY About Hunting Accident
Bush Knew Saturday About Hunting Accident By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer
7 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - President Bush knew Saturday evening that Vice President Dick Cheney had accidentally shot a hunting companion, but the information wasn't made public until the next day — by a private citizen — the White House said Monday.

Spokesman Scott McClellan said the vice president's staff was focused on making sure that the shooting victim, Austin, Texas, attorney Harry Whittington, was receiving adequate medical care after the shooting on the private Armstrong Ranch in south Texas. Whittington and Cheney were hunting quail together.

Cheney apparently did not see Whittington, and the vice president accidentally hit him in the face, neck and chest with bird shot.

White House chief of staff Andy Card told Bush Saturday night about Cheney's involvement in the shotgun accident.

1. So Cheney's whole staff was making sure Whittington was...
getting adequate care and that is why the news wasn't released. If he was at a hospital I'm sure he was getting adequate care (even though it took some time to get him to a hospital). It should have been headline breaking news immediately. The news was deliberately being held up, no doubt about it.

2. Too bad they couldn't have mobilized this quickly for Katrina,
Rita and the others.

3. "Hit him"?
Makes it sound like he threw the birdshot instead of it coming out of a barrel.

"Hit him" with the birdshot, or that he got "sprayed" with it....no, he was fucking shot in the face, okay??!!

6. This story has the makings of a good thriller...
"Whatever Happened to Uncle Harry?"

A deranged vice president, who travels with his own medical entourage & ambulance, lures big spenders to large private Texas ranch settings for quail hunting...only the decrepit VP isn’t using quails as targets.
