State drinking water rated average - headline in local paper
Sub-head: No violations for contaminants cited against local supplier over five years of testing.

A newly released database of the nation's drinking water systems shows Tennessee falls in the middle of the pack for contaminants.

In Tennessee, 65 contaminants were found in water utility supplies between 1998 and 2003, with the levels of 30 exceeding federal health limits, according to the nonprofit Washington, D.C.-based Environmental Working Group. Meanwhile, 15 of the contaminants are not regulated under maximum legal limits by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Nearly all water systems across the country met enforceable health standards, but the group stated there are many unenforced limits, and it would like to see more safety mandates imposed.

This link is embedded in the article, http://www.ewg.org/tapwater/yourwater/, and it lists many utilities. Mine wasn't listed so I used the zip code search function. After viewing the results, my 15 yr. old is walking around looking like he's gonna vomit.

What's in your tap water?
