I always laugh at those who think a successful petition will reinstate it. The only way to is to have a constitutional convention, which would be very expensive and wasteful of taxpayer dollars. On top of that, the West Michigan religious conservatives are split on the matter, and Cardinal Maida is going to take the Vatican position against it. So the conservatives can't count on their usual base in this state to support the effort, although, really, my guess is that most Michigan citizens would support it.
