2. Oh, please
That's from an ad for sunblock.

Or not washing your face with Cetaphil.

Everybody knows methamphetamine is good for you.

See how pretty?

3. Alcoholics tend to age faster also, but you here nothing about that do you
because its legal and brings in the tax dollars and contributions to repukes. Every notice how no one complains about the sexy beer ads?

10. Actually,
as a Christian Scientist Mormon, I neither drink nor take drugs.

You, though, might try either or both, since your sense of humor is sorely in need of some kind of artificial assistance.

Duh.

I'm also Jewish. And a Druid.

heh heh heh

13. After seeing the effects of addicts and alkies, I see nothing
humorous about either usage. After seeing kids and women abused and given empty good intentions to make up for the abuse, still no humor there. Then to see the after math of a drunk driver after he/she runs a red light, still no humor to be found on the subject. After seeing a mother hooked on meth or crack or heroin selling all the food in the house, every gift given to the kids taken away to sell for more drugs, again no humor. thats just the tip of the ice berg of drug use and alcholism, its far worse after seeing these people wake up and realize what their fun has caused and the wreckage of their lives, nothing funny about that either. BTW why the attack? I was just stating facts, meth is no better or worse then any other drug out there legal or illegal. Its funny how you can always get a drunk, a crack head or a pot head to tell you why there drug isn't as bad as someone elses. Its called mine is better then yours.

14. Oh, lord
Your screenname isn't a play on words, is it?

You're harshing my buzz, man.

What attack? You seriously think there are Jewish Christian Scientist Mormon Druids? As I said, that was a joke, and you clearly have so much anger about this matter, you failed to get it. Or chose not to.

There are worse things than drug use, I believe. A malignant attitude towards life, for one thing, is much worse and does more harm.

Peace, dear heart. I wish you peace.

16. Sorry I just don't find any humor about substance abuse nor find
that the only answer seems to be is build more prisons to warehouse drug users in. The experts ask for detox centers and self help programs, but government and Joe Blow citizens (who voted for repukes cause of tough on crime BS)would rather build prisons. BTW I did understand your "joke", I just don't think its as funny as the way Cheech and Chong did it. Also, I have met people that had weird religious beliefs, try a baptist born again, hindu, buddhist that believed that little green men were going to take him for a ride in their flying saucer so he shaved all body hair and dyed himself green. He tended to sit on his roof top drinking vinegar and clipping his toe nails. The doctor gave him some pills and he's much better now.

18. Not that fast
It takes years for alcoholics to look bad. Meth takes far less time.

5. Oh no ...
not biased, sensational, anti-drug propaganda at DU ... tell me that was sarcasm.

Inform yourselves and connect the dots. The abuse of drugs is one thing, the whole mechanism behind making them illegal and keeping them that way, is another.

The solution these days is to put loads of money into imprisoning people, the ones who are otherwise harmless or have committed no other crime, and loads more money on beefing up the warriors for the drug war. Meanwhile, look into the CIA's involvement in drug trade and note who the biggest dealer/trafficker may actually be.

Then look into how much money and services go to help people who are addicted. Lack of nutrition and lifestyle changes could be dealt with, but nobody cares about those classified as addicts, junkies, (read:criminals).

The last thing behind all the various reasons for the war on “illicit” drugs and criminalizing their use is compassion or concern for the effect the whole system + the drugs has on individuals.

Like Prohibition, the Harrison Act and the legislature to follow for many years, should have been repealed. When a non-narcotic is scheduled as one, you know something is wrong.

Just a little, eclectic reading on this subject goes a long way.

7. yes, everytime the public tires of one horror du juor...
we must rotate to the next one on the list:

speed (the current incarnation)
heroin
pcp
cocaine (and, of course, that super deadly excuse to lock up blacks for longer than whites: CRACK!!!)
marijuana (c'mon, we ALL know this doesn't belong on this list!)
ecstasy
lsd (my genetic code must REALLY be scrambled...except it AINT!)
oxycontin (well, unless you are rich, fat, and white)
quaaludes (one of my favs from "back in the day")
mushrooms
etc, etc, etc...

rotate and'or pick and choose the next "terror of the streets" as needed to keep the public occupied and their doors locked.
But WHATEVER you do, do not...i repeat DO NOT...put money into social services or rehabilitation.

12. I agree with you, but...
Meth use is a legitimate public health issue, and no one, but NO ONE, should end up addicted to it. It's a devastating drug.

I know that appealing to my vanity often works. It might work for other people.

8. There is no meth "epidemic"
Usage rates have been flat for about the past five years. Is meth use under prohibition a problem in some areas, yes.

But anyone who thinks there is an epidemic should check out the national surveys on drug use, such as Monitoring the Future (high-school and junior high students), the National Household Survey on Substance Abuse, and the DAWN (Drug Abuse Warning Network--hospital ER admissions), then get back to me. Go on now, I dare you.

17. The police came to my nephew's school
in health class they showed the kids how to make meth and just for good measure they showed them how to make a booby trap out of a shotgun shell and a mouse trap. My nephew is about 14 years old. I can't tell you how angry that made me, words cannot express it.
