Kos: Hackett may drop out of Senate race
According to "the rumour mill." Apparently Hackett dropped out of an apperance on "Hardball"?

www.dailykos.com

Why would he drop out?

1. I sure hope this isn't true and
that maybe he just didn't want to be on Hardball for some reason. We need him!

3. because the Democrat Repuke Light DLCers have asked him to?
I read that yesterday here, Rahm Emanuel has asked him to get lost. :grr:

8. You are so fucking WRONG
Rahm is not telling him to get lost, Rahm is recruiting him to run for Congress against Jean Schmidt. But feel free to spread misinformation if it makes your feel better.

Rahm is telling him where and how to run? That is not telling him to get lost from the senate race? Hackett should be supported by the Dem "elites" like Rahm rather than supporting DLCers that get us NOWHERE.

16. Rahm is in charge of the DCCC not the DSCC
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 08:41 PM by wndycty
All Rahm is trying to is pic up seats in the house. Obviously with Brown currently polling better there is legitimate reason to believe Hackett will not get the nomination. Those of us who want to see Hackett in Washington (EMANUEL BEING ONE OF THEM) know he has an excellent chance by running against Schmidt in November.

17. Rahm Is DLC
nuff said...

DLC | New Dem Of The Week | December 2, 2002
New Dem of the Week: Rahm Emanuel
U.S. Rep.-elect, Illinois

Newly elected U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) is not your average House freshman. Having served as a senior advisor to President Clinton on issues ranging from crime to trade, he comes into Congress with extensive high-level experience shaping and implementing innovative public policies.

A "New Domocrat" we do not need.

21. As I have said before. . .
. . .when we start dismissing good strategy because it comes from someone affiliated with the DLC we really put ourselves in a losing position.

There's an article in GDPolitics that tells how they're trying to get him for Congress.

44. If anybody is trying to "get rid" of Hackett, it'd be Schumer.
Schumer runs the Senate side, Emmanuel the House side. If the House side guy is getting in on this, it's a recruitment effort, not a "please quit" one. Who else is going to take on Schimdt? Anybody? If Hackett goes back there with some I-told-you-sos and gets more money, he could win this time. Then we'd get two for the price of one.

Of course, it's up to him, and I'm confident that he can win either race.

18. Look I hate the DLC as much as anyone...
Read my sig line after all. But I think this is good. Brown is an excellent candidate. He is one of us. And Rahm wants Hackett to run for Congress. A win win proposition for everyone here.

I support this move.

he's not DLC, never has been.

We need Hackett in the OH-2 race, we need to win that seat.

28. Another thing people have to consider is this...
Only one of these two excellent candidates will actually win the primary. Which means that one of them will actually lose and WE WILL LOSE THEM. We need them both in Washington. Brown is leading significantly in every poll, and the only way Hackett would close is by going negative which would hurt them both.

Hackett should definitely run for Congress. We need him.

38. Nobody hates the DLC more than I do
and I'm not sure running Hackette for Congress is their idea or not. But think about it - this really is a good strategy. Hackette already ran in that district and almost won so probably has pretty good name recognition. This freak woman who he almost beat has made a complete fool of herself by calling Representative Murtha a coward - polls are looking bad for repunks generally so I think it makes great sense and we might just end up with a Senator and a Representative. Sounds like a good plan to me which is why I'm almost positive it couldn't have come from the DLC - (sorry couldn't resist!!!)

39. Absolutely!
Brown is a dedicated and experienced Dem legislator. He deserves a shot at the senate. He has a good shot at winning the senate. Hackett is probably the only Dem that could win in his district. He is a great person, and I wouldn't want to deny him the senate, but this is a good plan for us.

9. Damn and I donated to him to. As a senator he would have some
power and plenty of visibility, as a congressman he never be heard from again. I Fuc*in HATE the DLC/republicn branch of our party. If we don't get rid of them by throwing them out we will always be losers. They want us to lose, they are paid to make us lose, they are moderate republicans who no longer have a party so they are stealing ours with corp money.

Of course, it won't make the other candidates running in OH 2 happy, but that's how it goes. If Ohio Dems had better leaders, this kind of thing could be avoided.
