A simple explanation for the time delay
Guy was shot at 6pm, police notified the next morning. Time enough for Cheney to dry out. All the official explanations are totally absurd.

4. I don't know . . .
. . . it doesn't sound like he was at deaths door at all. From the sound of things his wounds were pretty superficial. Bird-shot at 30 yards isn't going to go in very far.

15. Try all the facts
Not what they tell you, but what actually happened.

Guy shot, taken to nearest hospital. He is in such serious condition that he's flown to a hospital 40 miles away. He's in ICU for at least 2 days. His chest cavity is penetrated. The circle of shot is his face and upper chest.

Now use your common sense and tell me this was superficial, or was even at 30 yards.

about the chest cavity being penetrated. Got some catching up to do.
My bad. :spank:

23. 2 days in ICU
Superficial? Didn't take me much more than that to figure out they weren't telling the whole truth.

26. the smoking gun had the diagram of the shot scatter, which included
the area of the carotid artery. face, neck, shoulder and chest, ALL involved in circular pattern. No way that was a glancing shot. He was hit head on. Now, the distance away would have spread the shot so that the "peppering" wasn't as bad, but ask yourself this: would you think getting shot in the face, neck, shoulder and chest would be a superficial thing for a guy of that age?

sandnsea is right, look at the facts, NOT what they try to tell you are the facts.

29. Ok OK I blew it . . .
. . . and it would be an interesting experiment to see at what distance a .28 would make the exact pattern found on Whittington's body, no?

30. my apologies, wasn't trying to say you blew it, just pointing out spin
and debunking the spin. Sorry if it seemed I was jumpin onya.

as to your question: not being a hunter, but having seen spread patterns before, I'd guess Whittington was around 15-20 feet away, which is darn close enough, wearing bright orange, not to hit someone.

9. That's my feeling ...
... if he was okay, it was just one of those silly accidents.

... if he'd died, we NEVER would have heard the story at all. Imagine the dilemma; Cheney's hunting partner found dead, and the only person who can exonerate the VP can't speak up.

12. After watching the Scotty briefing, I was wondering the same thing
He kept saying they were waiting for all the information. What new information unless it was the lawyer's medical condition. I find it strange that he was in intensive care for that long for what they are portraying as a minor wound. I know nothing about gun/pellet wound, though.

10. Bill for the bj...Hilary for the anger
It was her anger that made Cheney shoot the guy and his jealousy over Clinton getting a bj while his-Cheney's- frustrated wife writes bad romance novels

27. yeah, I'm starting to think Mr. Cheney is a beard for his wife,
what with her lesbian novel and all. He's getting some sumthin sumthin on the side with the ambassador, if you know what I mean. NOT that that was a visual image I wanted in my head, but c'mon. You DON"T go on a hunting trip with two women who are NOT your wives, ifn there's not hanky panky also involved.

11. I could not agree more
One more example that these *'s don't think they have to follow the law. There was no reason why the sherriff could not question Cheney in the presence of the secret service.

20. Do you really believe that?
I don't! I bet the thing went down just like this:

SS calls HQ in DC to describe what happened.

Head of SS call WH, and gets Card or Rove, or both.

They tell Shrub.

Shrub askes "Who know about this?"

Answer, only those who where at the scene, and they're all friends or SS, Sir.

Shrub decides to keep it quiet. "Talk to the people at the hospitals and make sure they're all on OUR side!"

Some young reporter checks the police and hospital records in the AM for what happened overnight, and finds an interesting gunshot incident, and does some investigating.

Friendly cop contacts Armstrong and says "The story's getting out, you better do something."

Armstrong calls Cheney's office and they decide She would be the best cover to contact the Press. It would buy them time they wouldn'd have if they issued a Press Release.

Armstrong contacts the Dallas paper and you know the rest!

24. Hmmm, I dunno. I think in something like this, Shrub's ego would take
over. He'd be pissed that nobody told him! I can see them making all the important decisions like war ans tuff without him, but with this, I think they told him, and he said bury it!

everyone know Cheney runs the white house.
so, the same thing you said, only instead of Shrub doing the decision making, its Cheney.
