Sherrod Brown's excellent progressive voting record
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 10:21 AM by jim3775
Regardless of your feelings about how Hackett was treated by Reid and Schumer, there is a bright side; Sherrod Brown is a not a DLC shill and has a very progressive liberal voting record.

Link:On The Issues

Sherrod brown voted NO on authorizing the use of force in Iraq.

He was rated 100% by NARAL, indicating a pro-choice voting record.

He voted against bankruptcy reform.

He scored a 100% by the AFL-CIO.

He scored a 25% by the US COC meaning he has anti-corporate views.

He voted against prohibiting medical marijuana.

He voted NO on allowing school prayer.

He voted NO on school vouchers.

He voted NO on ANWR drilling.

He voted YES on implementing Kyoto.

Don't believe the BS about how brown is a big time free trade supporter, here is his free trade record:

Voted NO on implementing the US-Australia Free Trade Agreement. (Jul 2004)
Voted NO on implementing the US-Singapore free trade agreement. (Jul 2003)
Voted NO on implementing free trade agreement with Chile. (Jul 2003)
Voted YES on withdrawing from the WTO. (Jun 2000)
Voted NO on 'Fast Track' authority for trade agreements. (Sep 1998)
Rated 44% by CATO, indicating a mixed record on trade issues. (Dec 2002)
No MFN for China; condition trade on human rights. (Nov 1999)

He was given an F rating by the NRA.

He voted YES on the re-importation of prescription drugs.

HE voted against military recruiting on college campuses.

He was rated 100% by SANE, indicating a pro-peace voting record.

HE is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

He voted against Bush's tax cuts.

I support 99% of his choices in congress, Sherrod Brown would make a great progressive senator. It's a shame it had to get so ugly.

Hat tip to bink.

1. Thank you.
Too many people don't pay any attention to the facts. Of course, that's why someone like Lieberman can be so maligned, despite the fact that he votes with Democrats 82% of the time, according to National Journal.

3. If you're a one-issue person, I suppose that's fine.
I am not, and though I'm no Lieberman fan myself, I don't understand the immense hatred within our own party for him.

8. And that's why I'm not a huge fan.
But he's still a Democrat and he still votes with us most of the time. I'd prefer he weren't so outspoken against us sometimes, but I refuse to hate someone with the same intensity that I reserve for Bush and DeLay.

4. Sounds good to me.
It is a damn shame it had to get so ugly.

I have to be suspicious about this situation being spotlighted in the national media.
