for the Democrats in Congress to show their resistance during the SOTU? I'd like to see the Dems show a united front against shrub.

Would black arm bands be appropriate? Given how close to death honest democracy is in USA, wearing an arm band during the SOTU address could be quite powerful. (Even if it were done before (I don't know)) This would be a stunning visual for the people to see.

Coz as you may know. One member of Congress, one Supreme Court justice and one member of the JCS have to be absent from the SOTU, to ensure continuity of government in the event of attack. I think Democrats should uphold the dignity of their offices. They should attend the State of the Union, listen with an open mind, be polite, applaud as necessary. Behavior short of that is rude.

"I appologize, the SOTU is really screwed, and I am at fault. Dick Cheney and I are stepping down, and request that Congress authorize a Special Election to replace us."

Perhaps, the citizens would elect someone capable of a thought process that is opposite of the greed and powermongering of the present administration.

11. Wherever You Are During The Speech Make Noise

If you are at home go out and start blowing the car horn. Turn up the music to an unbearable volume at home. If you've got a gun go outside and shoot it into the ground - time after time after time. Take one of those $5 air horns and blow it more or less continously during the speach. Bang on a trash can lid with a hammer. Wake up babys and get them to scream. Make so much noise that no one anywhere can here him. Do this in every community, town, city, and state in the union during the speach.

Go to Washington. Be on the streets while the speach is being given. Bring an air horn.
