Cheney broke 2 hunting rules-Only ONE has been mentioned.
Not only did he fail to note where the rest of his hunting party was located before shooting, He also shot below the accepted height level for shooting quail. Rick Sanchez showed the level on a story earlier, It is somewhere above head level. Cheney shot directly at the man's chest for God's sake. The question is why has this not been pointed out in the media?

1. I think he also shot into the setting sun.
That's a big no-no, too, 'cause it's so easy to be blinded by it.

2. Gotta wonder . . .
. . . how much wild turkey it takes to make a guy in an orange hunting suit standing in the sun look like a bit ol' quail.

3. This is from my Marine Lt. Col. pal
This guy is a Desert Storm veteran, been all over the world with the Marines for 22 years, and he and his long-time brothers-in-arms absolutely HATE Fuckface (they used to call him "George W. Bush" until I told my friend his real name, and now they all call him his true name: Fuckface). They hate what this so-called administration is doing to the country, to the military. These guys are true patriots, but they all said they'd resign their commissions before they'd go to Iraq.

Anyway, he's a lifelong hunter, and here's what he wrote to me last night:

"I can't get over Cheney's hunting accident. Unbelievable. They're making it sound like the guy who got shot was to blame and the VP was more or less blameless.

"Hogwash.

"Every kid gets taught to control the muzzle of their weapon and to not fire unless they know what they're shooting at. That guy may have been out of position, but Cheney should have refrained from shooting if he didn't know where the guy was. It's NOT the guy's fault he got shot, it's Cheney's fault for pulling the trigger. Period.

"You know I'm a huge hunter and I've been hunting since I was 12.....that's 30 years of hunting at this point. If I go out and accidentally shoot somebody, regardless of what they were or were not doing, I'm the one responsible. Hunting is a great American sport, but it's one that carries serious responsibilities with it. You can't forget for a minute that you're handling a firearm and you can't be careless for even a moment. You just can't take shortcuts.

"If you get complacent with safety, something like that will happen. Cheney has hunted long enough to know that, and regardless of what he is or isn't saying about the matter, HE knows he screwed up.

"A covey of quail jumped up, he got excited, he didn't know where everyone in his party was, and he shot a guy at 30 yards with a shotgun.

"On top of that, he was hunting without a license. He KNEW he was supposed to have a license before he went hunting and he went anyway. If John Q. Citizen decided to go hunting without a license, and then shot somebody in the process, you can bet your behind they'd have been arrested and probably put in jail.

"This is just another example of Cheney's belief that he's simply above the law. And because he's the VP, he'll probably get away with it too. But it's criminal that he almost maimed a guy and is not being held to serious account for it. The rest of us would be."

Pretty basic, huh?

My Marine pal.

5. An avid hunter here in Texas says much the same.
In today's paper, too. He's a columnist. Darth's base is not happy with his actions.

6. Yep........
It's about responsibility, and Dickless has NEVER taken any responsibility for anything he's done. I'm sure he'd still spill those same lies about WMD, the fat fuck.

That was a first-rate article, by the way. Thanks. And I hope your state busts Cheney.............

8. If TX does go after him legally, Ronnie Earle will lead the charge.
And he won't be shy 'bout it, either. Darth would be in Earle's jurisdiction. That's working out so well for his ol' pal, Bugboy Delay, isn't it? :toast:

9. Is that right?
It took place within Earle's jurisdiction? His area is that big? I thought this "ranch" was really far down south near the Gulf Coast.

Ronnie Earle? Oh, that just makes me all hot and wiggly inside.

Bless you for this information.

AND, for that, you get the Beer-Drinking Pussycat Award:

10. Well, I may be a might premature, but Earle will be in it deep.
He's got an Austin attorney in the hospital with birdshot in his heart courtesy of Darth. Ronnie'll find some way to get involved. ;) Corpus is way down on the coast, but, hey, they might need 'help' with such a case.

That cat is hysterical!!!!

11. Dang, that sure would be something to see. Wonder if it would ever
get that far, though. Ol' '5 deferrments' knows how to wiggle out of stuff but good.

7. "he didn't know where everyone in his party was"
Isn't that a very basic rule in a situation like Cheney's quail hunt? Don't shoot if you can't account for everyone? And they were what, three or four people? How hard is that?

4. I would think the first would be to look before you shoot.
I may be bad at this as I have never shot a gun in my life. We have horses in the field in my back yard and beyond the fields is a church compound and they shoot guns all the time. I wonder when the horses will get it. I can not figure out what these people are always shooting at.
