Armstrong also told NBC News that she does not believe alcohol was involved in the accident. She says she believes no one that day was drinking, although she says there may have been beer available during a picnic lunch that preceded the incident. "There may be a beer or two in there," she said...

in the article leaves her plenty of wiggle room:

'Armstrong told NBC News in a telephone interview that she has never directly lobbied Cheney as far as she remembers.'

They really LOVE to play this 'as far as i remember' game don't they?

"Never!" she said. And she says she does not remember directly lobbying the president himself either.

'Armstrong also told NBC News that she does not believe alcohol was involved in the accident.'

'She says she believes no one that day was drinking, although she says there may have been beer available during a picnic lunch that preceded the incident.'

'She says she cannot remember which White House official the meeting was with.'

130. Oh, no.
Most with that device still keep going, just more slowly. He hasn't slowed down but instead has accumulated a huge entourage of medical people to have on hand when that thing starts going off.

I get so upset when the media makes it sound like it's a pacemaker. Yeah, you can feel a pacemaker going off, but that thing will knock anyone to the ground. My hubby had a patient in med school with one who went out to get the mail and had his go off, knock him to the ground, and then go off another twenty times while he crawled back to the house to get to the phone to call for an ambulance. He said it hurt like hell.

You know, there's a ring they all wear to turn it off in case they want to die. I wonder if Cheney has one.

Now, combine all of that with alcohol... even a small amount could lead to trouble under those conditions.

Boy, this rat bastard is just too mean to die! Imagine a defibrillator kicking the shit out of your heart ever so often!

Here is something else to consider. Many people go through extreme personality changes after open heart surgery. I know there is a medical term for it, but it escapes me at the moment. I've personally witnessed this change in four people... my veterinarian, a great aunt, a neighbor and my grandfather. The Vet got mean as hell and told me to take my dog out into a field and club it in the head until it died... he said this in front of my small children too. I've known that man all my life and I've never heard him say such a thing. That is when I learned of this situation with open heart surgery and read about it some. Dimes to donuts this prick VP of ours suffers the same.

22. Plus, she said she never lobbied the White House "Never!" B effen' S!!!!!!
She's lying, as fast as she can make this stuff up. From same story on MSNBC linked by OP:

Armstrong told NBC News in a telephone interview that she has never directly lobbied Cheney as far as she remembers.

"Never!" she said. And she says she does not remember directly lobbying the president himself either.
<snip>
Armstrong was paid $160,000 in 2004 by the powerful legal firm Baker Botts to lobby the White House, according to records she filed with the U.S. Senate as required by lobbying disclosure rules. The records indicate she was paid the money after she "communicated with the White House on behalf of Baker Botts clients."

In a phone interview, she told NBC News that in return for the money in one case, she set up a meeting at the White House for a Baker Botts client, although she said she felt she could not release the client’s name.

"A meeting for doing something with one of their clients," she said, describing the event. "I’m not at liberty to say which." She says she cannot remember which White House official the meeting was with. She also said that during the inauguration proceedings, she got Karl Rove to speak at a Baker Botts function. "I got them Karl Rove," she said.

128. It Is
I think drinking while hunting is banned in most states. The problem is that Cheney was hunting on a private ranch. Private ranches can do as they please. That may be why Cheney was hunting at a private ranch. So even if Cheney was drinking on the ranch it would not be completely illegal in that the ranch is private. The real problem for Cheney if he was drinking is his personal reputation.

It has gone from absolutely, positively no alcohol whatsoever to " a beer or two" Slowly but surely, as the rats abandon the ship, we'll find out there were a number of shots involved, and that the reason for the delay was they wanted to clean up all the damn bottles.

Stay tuned, this is going to get real interesting.

But somehow, I imagine that there were a few beers with lunch, and then like a number of hunting parties I've seen, shots throughout the rest of the afternoon. A flask here, a bottle there, not enough to make you puke or pass out, but certainly enough to impair one's judgement and dull the reflexes. Then BOOM, somebody was shot.

58. If you have had a beer or two or anything that shows up in a
blood alcohol test or breathalyzer, and you get in an accident you can be shown to be at fault.
That is the lecture I got from a highway patrolman. I didn't get in an accident and I blew a zero when pulled over but I admitted to having a couple of beers or glasses of wine. He said that admission would have been enough to charge me if I had of got into an accident or hurt someone.

Even one beer will diminish reaction time even slightly.

Their whole story is too fishy.

six-twelve, and I was a little buzzed means knee-knocking shit-faced drunk.

From a guy who has been asked "how much HAVE you had to drink?" on more than one occassion.

63. Whittington's Blood Test's Will Probably Show Alcohol Positive...
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 05:58 PM by Dunvegan
...and therefore we have the "ephemeral beers" that were "around".

Since Cheney stalled the local cops for over the time it would take to sober up, he's going to stick to a lie he was not drunk at the time of the accident.

But they drew Whittington's blood within a few hours of the accident. There's your "smoking globulin."

If it get's out from the lab report that Whittington was legally drunk, then the question is, what about the rest of the hunting party?

See where the "ephemeral floating beers" that were "here" "there" and "around" come in as an excersize in vaguery?

(Edited to say: Since a lab test for blood alcohol cannot distinguish between spirits and lager, they're going for the lesser damning intoxicant (beer) in the vague statements.

Doesn't fly...like those poor, fattened, 6 oz. tame quail: Rich old guys hunt squabettes with $25+ K guns and drink scotch nearly as old as they are to warm their cold, cold hearts.

Try imaging Cheney and Whittington ripping a couple of tall-boys off the 6-pack and see if you buy that one.)

107. Unfortunately the patient-doctor privilege would keep the records secret
unless Whittington willingly releases his medical records to the public or a lab technician risks his job and a lawsuit and sells the records to the media. Or unless the shooting results in a law suit where medical records become public as part of a court file.

I would bet, however, that you are right about the presence of alcohol in Whittington's blood.

67. I know people who've taken part in these "hunts" in Florida......
where sometimes the animals are even tethered so the "great white hunters" don't have to expend too much energy during their safari. :eyes: Each one, to a man, shared stories of alcohol fueled blood-lust orgies, the great hunters proving to each other how they can hold their liquor and shoot tame animals. :puke: They start with Irish coffee in the morning, just a little "pick-me-up" :eyes: and the spirits flow throughout the day.
There's not a doubt in my mind that alcohol was involved. It's the ONLY reason that it was not reported until the following day. Cheney's a drunk, just like his boss. Between them, they could keep a DWI Lawyer employed for years.

Lawrence O'Donnell: Was Cheney Drunk? Lawrence O'Donnell
Tue Feb 14, 12:53 PM ET

The L.A. Times is edging closer to the most likely reason for the 18 hour delay in reporting that the Vice President of the United States shot someone:

"This was a hunting accident," said Gilbert San Miguel, chief deputy of the Kenedy County Sheriff's Office. "There was no alcohol or misconduct."

How do we know there was no alcohol? Cheney refused to talk to local authorities until the next day. No point in giving him a breathalyzer then. Every lawyer I've talked to assumes Cheney was too drunk to talk to the cops after the shooting. The next question for the White House should be: Was Cheney drunk?

I have never gone hunting with ultra-rich Republicans on a Saturday afternoon, but I have seen them tailgating at Ivy League football games, so it's hard for me to believe that any of their Saturday lunches are alcohol free.

It was never really there. You just thought it was. The person who posted this thread just thought they saw it, and the posts since then just thought they were reading a legitimate story.

But clearly, it's not there now, so it never really was there to begin with. Do you actually think a media outlet like NBC would suddenly change a story to protect the innocent? They certainly would not. They have a reputation.......errrrrr.......to uphold.

126. Raw Story: 'Beer quote' pulled from MSNBC Cheney hunting party article
Raw Story
'Beer quote' pulled from MSNBC Cheney hunting party article
February 15, 2006

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Beer_quote_pulled_from_MSNBC_Cheney_0215.html

An article at MSNBC's Website was edited to remove references to alcohol, that may have been available at a picnic, which preceded the accidental shooting of a 78-year-old lawyer by Vice President Cheney last Saturday, RAW STORY has learned.

The change to the article was quickly noticed by a number of liberal bloggers, and their readers, many of whom have been following this much discussed story very closely for the last few days.

In the article, credited to Aram Roston and the NBC Investigative Unit, Katherine Armstrong, a member of the family who own the ranch, revealed new details about her lobbying for the Bush Administration, and about circumstances surrounding the incident itself, which wasn't reported to the media until the following morning. Armstrong was the one who reported the news to a local news reporter, and she said that Cheney agreed with the decision.

The following paragraph was removed for unexplained reasons from the article sometime after it first was published on the Internet:

142. "Maybe a beer or two" sounds like rationalization he was using 28 guage...
... shotgun, when it sounds like the damage was far greater than a 28 guage gun would produce, and most hunters don't just use a 28 guage gun either.
