Tweety spins Abramoff: "I'm not sure it's partisan"

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/01/03.html#a6561

Tweety calls Abramoff: Satan!: The Spin begins

Chris Matthews seems to think that Abramoff is really the only "big bad" in all of this. The Gordon Gekko of Lobbists. Well even Gordon needed help to amass millions of dollars illegally, because without republican help, he could have never made so much money. Calling Ralph Reed! He spins the story that Americans won't see this as Republicans being deeply immersed into his pocket.

Chris: I'm not sure it's partisan. I'm not sure people are going to see him as part of any republican culture of corruption. I think Duke Cunningham also was sort of a lone wolf in that department...

Chris:...he's Satan!

So sayeth the spin masters. If Tom Delay hangs out with Jack and many other top republicans playing golf and yucking it up in overseas sweat shops-in Matthews mind that doesn't mean they are any worst then democrats. It's all about Jack-Jack-Jack.

2. Well, I guess we'll just have to see, won't we?
Seems that a person pleading guilty to influence peddling is going to tell us to whom he peddled in the USG. Bring it on, bring it all on.

3. No Chris, it's not partisan. It's corruption.
The perpetrators happen to have "R" by their names. That's not the point, or it shouldn't be.

Wrong is wrong no matter who's doing it so why don't YOU quit being partisan, Tweety. :grr:

7. Why did Cornyn shut down theSpeaking Rock Casino?

http://scoop.agonist.org/story/2005/11/11/202025/18
Cornyn Corruption Watch

Senator John "Box Turtle" Cornyn just keeps showing up. Today he popped up at The Irregular Times and at the non-FNC Roger Ailes' place and at The Blogometer which is published by the highly esteemed National Journal.

"The Irregular Times asks the same questions we did earlier:

Now, what, oh what, did Ralph Reed talk with John Cornyn about? This corrupt deal is enough to bring criminal indictments against Congressman Tom DeLay, so the fact that Senator Cornyn now has his fingerprints on the scheme ought to have his lawyers scrambling. It’s time to hand over your emails and memos, Senator Cornyn.

That sounds real familiar. Here's what we wrote back when this story first broke November 11:

My suggestion for the Senator is this: come clean now with all contacts and communications with Abramoff and Scanlon, most especially if you aren't guilty of anything. If you don't, most people will assume you're hiding something.

So here is a question for our local media here in the state, especially the hometown paper: when are you going to a.) ask our Junior Senator some questions and b.) report on what he says? Why do the blogs have to do all the work? Aren't you the media?"

And:

"As soon as Cornyn shut down Speaking Rock in February 2002, team Abramoff pulled off an extraordinary double play. Playing on their close ties to indicted former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (who once had employed Scanlon as a press secretary), the same lobbyists who had worked behind the scenes to shutter Speaking Rock sold themselves to the Tigua tribe as the lobbyists who could press Congress to reopen that casino. The Tiguas-who hired Abramoff's team for an initial fee of $4.2 million-have since accused Abramoff, Scanlon and Reed of fraud."

19. I don't think I'm schizo, but I haven't checked lately..also don't kiss
Tweety's feet, he irritates me no end sometime. However, to be fair, what he said was..."I'm going to remain skeptical that it was partisan until I see the names."

A subtle difference, but basically remaining open minded until there is son documentation.

21. No, the problem on DU is people fawning over Tweety and the other
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 09:38 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
media whores whenever they are the least bit critical of Bush, and then next week they are weeping "I can't believe he's sucking up to Bush so badly" etc.

I mean, the bottom line is that people have to realize that people like Tweety are what they are. And what they are is NOT a consistent champion of truth, liberty, and liberal ideals. Once they can accept the media whores for what they are, they can settle down and have a lot less heartbreak.

13. Wonder when they'll admit to the close Abramoff/Rove WH connection
So far I have not heard the media inform people about the close connections between Abramoff and Rove/White House. You can bet that if the Clinton White House had close ties to someone like Abramoff, it would have been blasted over airways.

15. The more trouble the repubs get in, the harder the spin the other way.
The Corporate Media is having to work really hard right now. The truth will come out that no dems were involved and he'll just have to say it. Someone better keep a suicide watch over him when that happens.

17. Yes, he was hard on him, but he put Abramoff in the sleeze
category alone, without his repub friends. It's like he is saying "It's all Abramoff's fault that there is corruption in the congress." No mention of who (sleezy congresscritters) has been the beneficiary of Abramoff's treacherous acts.

I am no longer able to stomach the tiny tidbits Tweety is willing to give. He is still reeling from his Christmas Party encounter with *, you know - the man that Tweety said "glimmers with sunny nobility".

25. I think the culture of corruption is bipartisan, but
Abramoff clearly worked for the Republicans. He gave Republicans money for favors and not Democrats. Not to say the Democrats wouldn't take it if they could -cause they would(some have, but the amount was so small, it's almost insignifcant comparatively- they didn't ever get as much being dems, so they din't take as much).
The Repugs are screwed cause of the man now. I think it's clear the web of power is beginning to fall.
