Need Help With A Computer Problem!

I have a Native Unity blog at http://nativeunity.blogspot.com which was set up for me several years ago by the gal who operates the Native Celebs website. My statistics page has been blocked for a week now and the stats are set at Feb 8th. I have no way to access the A-Counters – Free counters & web statistics as they will only accept her e-mail address and password.

She has censored me before and apparently my sin this time – if she is the one who has blocked the stats – is for briefly announcing a Native American Film Festival set for next week. She responded to my e-mails with a notice of the upcoming film festival, like telling me to “butt out!”

Most of my columns are of a political nature with issues that affect the Native populations – health, welfare, education, housing, casinos, the Abramoff affair, etc. and particularly getting out the Native Vote.

I can function without the stats page but it does give me a valuable insight as to whom is looking at the column and where their lie which guides me in choosing topics to post. This is all being done for free and the site is free.

Would my computer repair man be able to help me with this problem or do I have to directly approach the statistics people on the web? I would like to get away from this lady but have no idea how to go about doing it as my computer skills are extremely limited.

Would appreciate any suggestions from DUers.

It could be an inadvertant error, tho you are probably right. Maybe if you ask nice she will restore your access. Because the only alternative I can think of is trying to hack the password, and success with that is unlikely.

You really should consider doing your own site, for this very reason. Hosting and domains are cheap cheap cheap now. :)

TWICE with two separate e-mail addresses. That is when she sent me the announcement of the LA Native Film Festival.

3. Putting in a new counter (under your own email) isn't too hard...

You may have to sign up for a new counter on your own. The counter people will give you a little snippet of HTML code to place in the template. If you've got the time, browse through your template in your Blogger account and see if you can pick out the code for the existing counter (but DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING YET!!!). It'll be in the second half of the template, down in the sidebar section. If you can find it, that'll be half the battle won right there.

Naturally, if you get a new counter, you'll lose any statistics you've amassed up to that point. A repair person probably won't be of much help in this instance, unless they've also got some software experience under their belt (although it won't take an advanced degree for this in particular).

The stats are pretty high - 31,000 plus but I will live. This is about the 4th time she has done this to me and I'm getting a tad pissed off. Think I have a friend of a friend who can help me. He is billed as the computer whizz and you have given me the format to work with.
