cnn poll: half of americans think congress is a bunch of lying thieves |
|
WASHINGTON (CNN) About half of U.S. adults believe most members of Congress are corrupt, a poll released Tuesday suggests.
According to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, 49 percent of respondents said most members of Congress are corrupt. Although 46 percent of respondents said most aren't, the margin of sampling error -- plus or minus 4.5 percent -- makes it clear that the perception of congressional politicians is largely negative.
Congress' image could emerge as an election topic, with 55 percent of respondents saying corruption will be "the most important" or a "very important" issue to consider when voting in November, when all 435 House seats, and 33 Senate seats, will be decided.
Thirty-two percent of people surveyed said corruption was moderately important, and 12 percent called it not important.

I happen to believe there's some degree of corruption in every politician who makes it to the Fed level, no matter what party they're in. Some are worse than others, yes, but NONE are CLEAN!
I think the only thing that keeps them from getting completely corrupt is the fear of being caught! That's the problem now. Majority of Fed Gov't is one Party, and they feel safe!

are the worse sort of immoral SCUM. They believed they had rigged the game so thoroughly that their corrupt acts would never see the light of day.
Why worry about possible Democratic lapses when the RePigLickins are so Blatantly running a Corrupt criminal enterprise?
Remember aWoL made an executive order that the Fraud in Iraq could not even be investigated. DeLay made trips to the Marianas and promised their sweat shops and human trafficking of sex slaves would never make it to the house floor.

Every so often we get a group that is like the ones we have now and I think it is that congress should never be the same party of the President. Each part of this govt. was to check up on the other. Heck our founders did not trust govt. and it was set up for no one to have all the power. Bush has been off color himself so every one knew they could do this and maybe get away with it.

the voting public saw it after the last all one party government when Lyndon Johnson and a Dem Congress got us involved in the first quagmire and all of his legislation was rubber stamped.
However, when * stole the election in 2000 and 2004, the will of the voters for a balanced government was overturned.

9. Good! Corruption in politics got us where we are now. |
|
With the politicians grabbing money from wherever they can get it. Maybe, just maybe, the people are getting fed up enough with "politics as usual" to demand some real changes in the way politicians get their "donations" and "campaign contributions" for services rendered.
Alas, the very same crooks make the laws as take the money.

I don't believe most members are corrupt and I don't think it helps to get rid of the ones who are by smearing them all with the same brush. In fact, it's down right stupid. Nobody will care about Abramoff if they just decide they're all the same. We could even end up with Tom Delay and Conrad Burns voted right back into office, if they're all corrupt anyway.

|
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 08:47 PM by Tactical Progressive
When Republicans get caught in major corruption the media immediately sets out to diffuse the backlash to 'all' Congressmen. It's called being fair to Republicans, and balanced too. That's the way they'll be playing this as long as even one Democrat is on the hook.
I don't recall all the polls about whether we thought alot of Presidents - or Congressmen or Senators, even the ones doing the accusing - had infidelities when Clinton was being assaulted by semen-sniffing Republicans.
