Remember how Spiro Agnew was conveniently taken out of office |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 12:33 AM by kineta
before Nixon's impending impeachment? And Gerald Ford was made VP? He was untouched by the watergate scandal, and finished his term as president by giving Nixon a full pardon.
Just a thought....

I wouldn't mind if the same script played out.

3. i'm just afraid they might use this as an opportunity |
|
to get someone in as VP who is untouched by the multitude of scandals, so if Bush IS finally impeached there will be a president in pocket to clean up the mess and hand out pardons...

He retired because he about to be indicted for bribery. Spiro had his own scandals. http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/usa/spiro-t-agnew/

12. True. Spiro was scandal ridden but so is Cheney. How will Cheney go down? |
|
I would love aWatergate scenario but we have to have a plan.
We've got to get rid of Cheney and replace him prior to Bush resigning. ??????

15. the question is, WHO gets to pick the replacement |
|
it will be Bush himself if Cheney goes first for something that isn't tied to one of Bush's problems.

9. Agnew was not the "real" president... |
|
Like Cheney. On the other hand, Cheney seems to be having less and less "plausible denial" than Bush at this point.

14. Read the book, "A Heartbeat Away." |
|
Spiro had to leave ..... he was getting bags of cash in the basement of the old executive office building.
It was just luck that some US attorneys stumbled on his part when looking into a kick back and bribe scam in MD. Small potatoes thugs ratted him out then.

19. Whoever might replace Darth Cheney |
|
Would have to be confirmed by 2/3 of both houses.
And actually, Ford STARTED his term by pardoning Tricky Dick. If he hadn't, he might have won election himself in 1976. But I'm pretty sure that Nixon wouldn't have resigned without being promised a pardon anyway.
