Have sex with a sheep, have to register as a sex offender?
Man Sentenced In Sheep Abuse Case

POSTED: 9:47 pm EST February 14, 2006
UPDATED: 9:51 pm EST February 14, 2006

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- A man who pleaded no contest to a sodomy charge involving a sheep says he should not have to register as a sex offender.

Jeffrey S. Haynes said the state registry is intended to keep track of people who have committed crimes against humans.

But Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge Conrad Sindt told Haynes at his sentencing hearing that once he is released from prison, he must register with the Michigan State Police Public Sex Offender Registry.

Haynes, 42, of Battle Creek, was sentenced Monday to 2 1/2 years to 20 years in prison. He entered the plea in January. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes.

6. I wonder if you're allowed to register before you have sex with sheep.
That would make more sense.

7. He did a baaaaaad thing.......
And while he's feeling pretty sheepish about it now, making him register as a *possible* threat to someone's little lamb is wooly thinking at best.

10. Register as a sex offender? Well, the sheep was most likely
under 18, 16 even.

Sentenced to prison? But really, why? How about some counseling instead? This country is so psychotic when it comes to sex.
What would the punitive measures be if he had shot the sheep instead? I think the judge has a worse problem then the defendant.

12. "Have You Seen This Lambramming Prevert?"
It's hard tellin' how many chickens and pet goats the guy ASSaulted, before they caught him with his pants down.

I'll bet the sheep teased the guy to start with. Hard tellin' how many other guys in the area had been with that sheep in the past 24 hours!

13. He should be registered as an animal abuser.

I don't know if there is any evidence to show a relationship between animal abuse, sexual or otherwise, and human abuse. It would be interesting to look at.
