What if John Kerry listened to high profiled politicians?
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 07:14 AM by FreedomAngel82
I am both disappointed and disgusted all around with the Hackett deal. I'm disappointed and disgusted with what happened in Ohio with the "whisper campaign" (not man enough to fight in person) and the whole money deal (sometimes I wonder if there's something else  ) and I'm also disappointed that Hackett is giving up so easily. What would have happened if Kerry gave up and rolled over when he was protesting the Vietnam war? What if he listened to high profiled politicians like Richard Nixon and gave up everything he and the other veterans were working on? What if he never made it to that senate hearing? Would vietnam have gone on much longer and lost even more lives? What if Kerry listened to high profiled politicians with BCCI? Nobody supported him, so what if he took his ball and went home? Would that "bank" still be open? Who knows who they would be funding today and who they would be supporting. Or how about Iran/Contra? Do you think he would've backed up Gary Webb and the truth we know today? What if Kerry gave up after his failed Congressional run and his first failed senatoral run? What if Howard Dean disappeared after his failed presidential run? Would he be the leader of the DNC today and helping out? Or what about Kuicinich? I guess the point is when the going gets tough even within your own party you should have the nerve, in my opinion, to have your own voice and stand up and say "NO." Thanks for my rant. :)

1. Well said, FA!
Here's the thing though. I really DO believe it is the Power of the People. When we speak, certain politicians listen. There was a massive "Beg Howard to shoot for the DNC Chair" campaign last year. There were tons of letters written to state heads. Our own Mark Brewer, who...before the campaign, was not for Dean. I think we need to keep our voices heard. Loudly. :hi:

Even though I wasn't a Dean for president fan I do like his grassroots work and supported him very much for the DNC role even though he himself used to be DLC. I liked how he did things and people listened and the DNC committee overwhemingly voted for Dean and people dropped out of the race. People need to learn how to say "no." Al Gore said it right in 2000: "Sometimes you have to do what's right and not what's popular."

3. Great post - one little error though, I think.

Kerry won his first senatorial race, I think. However, he won it after a hard-fought primary where he was not the establishment candidate, far from it and he did not get out of the race for that.

But globally, I agree with you 100 %.
