What I've yet to see about The Cheney Story... |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 09:50 AM by AValdoux
...is a description of the Texas law regarding accidential shhotings. Theoretically, I'm hunting with some buddies and I accidentially shot one of them. He is taken to an emergency room, by my fellow hunters, suffering from a gunshot wound. I go back to the house. When are the authorities notified? Can I wait until the next morning to talk the authorities? Can the secret service interfere or delay the authorities? What if this had been a foreign head of state like Putin or Blair who did the shooting or was shot?
To me this is the story. This is horrible tragedy for Mr. Whittington & his family and I do believe it was an accident. But Cheney's arrogance in handling the situation is the crime. He didn't go to the hospital. He went back to the ranch house, ate supper and decided the best way to cover his butt.

what that lawyer for the Ed Schultz show said: that in TX hunters don't need to report an accidental shooting unless it's fatal.
Maybe someone else can clarify.

1. The doctors must report a gunshot wound. |
|
So what you should be asking is, did someone tell the doctors to wait? Were they local docs or White House docs?
Alan Simpson is lower than rolled snot. Can't believe he said that a private rancher has no obligation to report these incidents if they occur on their ranch. These Texan sons of bitchs were going to pull a Prince of Tides and stay mum.

2. You are NOT the only one asking this. |
|
David Gregory asked almost that very question both on Mon. & Tues. in the Press Briefing. Of course there still haven't been any answers.
As for the SS interfering...we've seen similar situations in the past when a Fed. agency steps in and tells local law enforcement, "We're in charge here!" I don't think there are any local officers willing to fight that, at least NOT at the time it happens anyway.

6. It would seem to me..... |
|
all gunshot wounds would be reported. Especially ones resulting in a visit to the ICU.
What if the guy was shot attempting to burglurize someone?
