If the media would focus on Cheney's other scandals |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 10:40 AM by Blue_Roses
as much as this hunting accident we might actually get somewhere:eyes:
This story has received so much press coverage, so it begs to ask the question: Why don't they focus on the other scandals that are REALLY tearing the whole country apart--starting with Halliburton's huge profits since the start of the Iraq invasion and the meetings with oil companies regarding the so-called "energy plan." I think Americans would be interested to know how they were "mapping" out what countries they wanted.

to see him humiliated--really it is, especially to hear the late night talk show comedians tear him apart, but this is just a small drop in the bucket to what evil he is capable of

5. The corporate controlled media won't cover those scandals. |
|
Cheney is a huge money-maker for these criminals, why would they expose his crimes?

9. the media are looking for a "story," a narrative |
|
they have to fit Cheney into some stereotype they can write about freely without doing too much work (who knows how they pick these things?) Anyway, this incident gives the media a storyline: Cheney is reckless and evil, or alternatively, "IT's ALL CHENEY!!!" Now all the other Cheney stuff will be hauled out of the safe triumphantly and they'll say "Look over here! He did this too! And This! And this was all Cheney too!"
Everyone will happily pile on because it gives the Shrub an exit from his current troubles: "It's All Cheney!!" "Everybody Loves Shrub!" will be shouted at us 24/7
They will do it clumsily though. A lot of other people will get hurt. Facts are awkward pointy things and need hard spinning to fit into nice chewable memes. It's hard to see how they can protect Shrub from the worst of it, but they will try. Cheney has given them an opportunity, if they are smart enough to take it. Shrub is not smart, tho, and he can't tolerate change. He'll probably fight some. Heh.
Nah, his middle name is "pass the buck." It won't take them long to stop being stupid and toss Cheney under the bus.

11. Yes, they're bent on offering us entertainment rather than hard substance. |
|
Entertainment sells. Such a sorry state of affairs because: 1. they demean their profession by creating such an uproar over this in comparison to what they're failing to report adequately on and 2. they deprive Americans of knowledge essential to the operation of our democracy by failing to report adequately on more critical issues.
