So I was listening to the radio.... (Cheney) |
|
I was going through various stations on the FM dial, and noticed a certain pattern. Many of them were talking about the Cheney shooting incident. This is the first time in a long time that I recalled hearing anything political on the other side of the dial (not AM). The other surprising aspect was that they were pummeling Cheney and crew. For example, Cheney's crew made a statement how Dick is in the dumps over this. One radio jockey was like who the hell cares about him, how about the guy with the pellet in his heart. One station was even playing clips of Snotty Scotty blaming the victim, the station was beyond outraged by this.
Supposedly Cheney is having an exclusive i-view with Fox this afternoon, but I can't imagine him miraculously turning this one around. The damage is done. Only time will tell how this all plays out.

thats just a few minutes from now. But I'm really kind of hoping he'll eat a live baby... it'll be interesting to see how they'll blame the child.

....who try to paint Cheney as the sympathatetic party in this debacle are playing with fire IMHO.
This isn't some policy nuance that can be he-said she-said until everyone just tunes out. Large numbers of Americans understand the SIMPLE FACT that if you are discharging a weapon it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to not shoot people.
By spinning this as a "poor Cheney" scenario, they risk having more Americans finally understand how little truth there is in anything they say.

14. I think each of these incidents... |

.. and the ridiculous spin Faux and others put on it, moves a few more people over to our side each time.
Americans are not big on the nuances of policy, my belief is that they know that it is mostly rhetoric and has little bearing on what will actually happen.
But when it comes to 1) blatantly and absurdly failing to respond to a disaster (Katrian, that's when Bush**'s numbers went permanently south, because no amount of spin could hide the reality) 2) shooting someone in the face and then trying to blame it on the victim - well folks it is not going to work.
Americans get to see what we've been saying all along. That these folks are simply incapable of accepting responsibility for ANYTHING.
Hillary has already been making some noise to this effect. Every prominent Dem should be saying "as usual, this administration is more interested in blaming someone, anyone, than in being responsible".
