A question about news reporters |
|
This is both national and local. I have always wondered why they feel the need to tell us their names. Does anyone care that they even have names, let alone what their names are? How could anyone care what their names are?

1. There was a story about this on NPR a while ago |
|
Last year, maybe. Anyway, too long ago to find. I think at one time, the FCC required reporters to state their names and locations at least once during any remote. I may be wrong on this, I admit, but that was the gist of it. There actually was a stated reason for reporters saying "I'm Joe Blow, reporting from Main Street."

3. and I guess behind the desk too |

They always start off with "I'm so and so," like we could care that they have a name, just read the piece of paper.

2. I like knowing who's 'reporting', what organization they're |
|
affiliated with, and what kind of slant they're providing. Gone are the days, for the most part, when you can't tell which way journalists lean.
