The missing beer paragraph has been put back!!
Here's the write up on it from Think Progress...

MSNBC’s Missing Paragraph Reappears; Reporter Misled By VP’s Office

Last night, MSNBC scrubbed a paragraph about alcohol from an online article about Cheney’s hunting accident:

Now, they’ve restored the paragraph, in a slightly modified form:

In a recorded, on-the-record phone call with NBC News, Armstrong said that beer may have been available at lunch that day. “If someone wants to help themselves to a beer,” she said, “they may, but I did not see anyone do that,” Armstrong says. She says she was not sure if there were beers in the coolers but wasn’t ready to rule it out: “There may be a beer or two in there, but remember not everyone in the party was shooting,” she told NBC News.

It appears that the White House misled MSNBC about whether Cheney had consumed alcohol:

NBC News called the vice president’s office for comment four times Tuesday and Wednesday and asked whether the vice president or anyone in the hunting party had consumed any alcohol on Saturday prior to the accident. In an e-mail statement Wednesday to NBC News, the vice president’s press secretary referred NBC News to the Kenedy County Sheriff’s Department report on the incident.

The sheriff’s report says “there was no alcohol…involved in the incident.” Cheney told Brit Hume that he drank beer prior to the accident.

Question: Did the White House pressure MSNBC to remove the paragraph last night?

1. The 1984 "Ministry of Truthiness" angle is why bloggers are vital...
...to what's left of the First Amendment freedom protections.

Put it back! Stop re-writing history!

5. So, he admitted he was drinking....
seems like an investigation is in order,
to say the least.

6. Drinking would be admissible evidence in a trial.
I'm surprised Cheney admitted he drank beer after so much trouble was taken to prevent cops from seeing him until the following morning. And of course there will never be a trial since the victim is such a long-time Bush/Cheney supporter. However, if the victim died (which I hope he doesn't), one of his family members could press for criminal charges or sue Cheney's ass in civil court.

11. Exactly, This was a "elite" party with Lobbiests?
Armstrong is a lobbiest? So Cheney is out mixing it up socially with lobbiests at private "resorts" and no one is concerned about this part of the story? They are so open about who they serve...

9. The paragraph was changed by adding the last phrase.
They are dishonest. The phrase "but remember not everyone in the party was shooting,” was not in the original news article.

However, Cheney himself admitted, in his Faux News interview, having a beer for lunch and he was hunting.
