5. I don't the cover-up will carry much weight with the masses. It sounds too
much like insider media stuff, as if elected officials have to immediately report to a Talking Head whenever something happens.

10. On the contrary, it's PRECISELY the coverup, or delay in reporting, that
raises the antennae of most ordinary people, and makes them realize the Cheney is not a good guy.

25. I think most people don't care if Cheney's a good guy or not.
They see him as a real tough guy (and at some level probably understand that he's the real President), so they grant him his secrecy and misanthropy. They want America to have somebody as mean as Osama, so they're willing to cut him LOTS of slack. The more we scream "drunk hunting trip" or "coverup" or "mean-spirited," the more the masses will forgive him.

I fervently hope I'm wrong, but unfortunately I haven't been wrong in years about these things.

4. So Clinton's very human mistake.....infidelity...
Was okay to mock and villify. Two consenting adults and no one is shot or killed!!

Cheney shoots a man in the face and chest and basically shows no remorse and we should let him scate around the law and around being irresponsible!

I don't think so!!!

12. It must be that we hate them for their freedom..
To get away with murder
To destroy the good name of the United States
To completely ignore half of the population
To cram their religion down our throats
To violate the privacy and civil right of American citizens

Need I go on?

13. Yeah, a normal Texas weekend when a millionaire gets shot in the face
by a cowardly drunken U.S. Vice President while the two of them are at a lobbyist's ranch with women who are not their wives.

Especially when there's a cover-up afterwards. Yeeee-hah!

17. Do they normally have hunting victims on a South Texas Hunting Weekend?
Cause you'd think that would be a problem for any region of the country. Or are we supposed to just chalk it up to something that South Texans Do?? I'm confused... normally that would be thought of as a problem - but then again, I'm from a Blue State so WTF do I know?

18. A very human mistake?

Shooting someone in the face is a very human mistake?

No. Cheating on your taxes is a human mistake. Lying to a friend about denting their car is a human mistake.

Shooting someone in the face does not qualify for the 'very human' mistake catergory!

20. "But, it's different for Republicans and Democrats!"
When Democrats do bad stuff, it reveals their essential evil nature. When Republicans do bad stuff, it just reveals their essential humanity.

23. Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I've made some very human mistakes
But I never, ever have shot somebody in the face, nor put anybody in the hospital other than myself. And yes, I've done things that I look back on now and wonder how in the hell nobody got hurt, but none of them involved guns.

28. If it is a very human mistake
Then every person in this country who has accidentally shot someone needs to be released from prison, probation or parole.
Not only that, if Whittington dies and Cheney isn't held accountable, then every person who has accidentally killed someone needs to be released from prison, probation or parole.
You see, this isn't a human mistake. It is an egregious error in judgment. The law recognizes that this happens and has punishment defined for this particular crime.
Many people have accidentally killed people that they loved and still had to pay the price for justice to be served.
Cheney needs to pay. Just like you or I would have to. He is NOT above the law, regardless of what he and his minions think and no matter how many of his corporate media croneys whine and piss and moan that this was just a mistake, then they must concede that accidental death should not be punished...ever.
