Viagra and Insurance Companies |
|
Michigan, like many other states, is wrestling with the problem of birth control. Like it or not, less children are being born into American families and the increase in population throughout the United States is not caused by domestic harmony and prosperity but by immigration. The population of the United States is growing because of the influx of people moving to live here. The problem that has surfaced in Michigan, and other states, is about insurance. Should insurance companies pay for birth control by including it in their care offerings? Many people say they should not have to pay. Some say that the insurance companies should not be forced to pay for birth control. A friend of mine said to me today, however, something that made me pause to think. She said many insurance companies offer benefits to pay for Viagra. What does this do? It puts an artificial sex drive into men who are then driven to rape and abuse. In that case, why not provide health benefits that pay for birth control. Everyone knows that drugs are priced artificially high and insurance companies, at least health insurance companies, act no better than legalized loan sharks. Why penalize women and give men an advantage that will lead to more abuse and unwanted pregnancies? That is why I believe that if insurance companies pay for dried up old men to have erections then they should provide benefits to young women who do not want to be impregnated by these monsters.

The notion that Viagra turns elderly men into sex-crazed rapists is, frankly, ridiculous. There are many, many men (both young and old) who are unable to fulfill their part in a sexual relationship for a variety of physical reasons. Just because a couple is old, for example, doesn't mean that they don't wish for a healthy sex life. :)

4. it is worse than that: many plans pay for penile implants |
|
and other augmentation systems for men, but will not cover a breast reduction for a woman.
I spent years in the health insurance claim/service sector and it just appalls me that Viagra and its cousins are covered by so many health plans because "erectile dysfunction" is a "medical condition". Prevention of pregnancy apparantly is not.
Many plans do not cover BC pills on the RX plan, or Norplant, IUD's, DepoProvera
Now you can get DepoProvera for severe menstrual discomfort as it really helps with that, and it also is greatly beneficial with endometriosis. Medical conditions.
BC pills are covered if the RX is for treatment of a medical condition, so if you have endometriosis, severe cramps etc, or acne it will be covered.
Not all medical plans are structured this way, but a great many are.
HOwever I would differ with you on the Viagra putting an artificial sex drive into men who are driven to rape and abuse. The sex drive is always there! Honey the old saying is "women have to be in the mood, men just have to be in the room". The problem is NOT the sex DRIVE, it is the DRIVE SHAFT....strictly a mechanical problem.
Rape and abuse are completely separate issues, and are acts of control and violence; they are about power, pure and simple. While it is certainly possible that a rapist or abuser could obtain and make use of these drugs, most of the men who want them are just wanting to make love to their wives or girlfriends. And I don't care if their insurance covers it as long as the women can get their stuff paid for too.
End of rant,

5. Viagra drives monster men to rape and abuse? |
|
Monsterishness probably does that, even without Viagra.
Sexual disfunction is a real medical condition. People can suffer it as a result of psychological problems, as a result of neurological damage (back or hip injuries, prostate or other transabdominal surgery, etc.), and should be treated as such.
I'm not familiar with the cost of female birth control, but it would seem that birth control should be covered by premiums, as should any medical condition that requires a doctor to write a prescription for your wellbeing.
The real issue is not the who should pay, but how much should it cost. I sure don't want judgemental insurance companies picking and choosing healthcare for me and second guessing my doctor after taking my premiums.

10. That is the most ignorant, idiotic thing I've read in a while |
|
Viagra has no effect on sex drive. Instead of posting someone else's drek, try using your brain.
