I don't think Cheney was drunk |
|
I mean, think about it. If he was drunk at the time, he would've knocked off 5 or 6 companions, a couple secret servicemen, and half the ambulence crew.
He's bad enough sober.

If he had to be facing Mr. Whittington when he shot him is that he stumbled and the gun discharged. It's a horrible thing but it happens. I think this "he snuck up behind me" is spin if the facts don't bear it out. I think that the only way to have pellets in someone's liver, larynx and heart is to shoot them straight on not a discharge to the side.

4. Oh it was a dead on hit for sure-that is the only way it could have |
|
penetrated the organs and it was closer than 30 yards. I do not think he stmbled. I think he turned but he was aiming way to low which is also illegal. They say that those birds fly really close to the ground. He was trying to prove to the boys what a great shot he was and did not use common sense safety rules.

8. So why wait until the next day for the police interview? |
|
The stumble/gun discharge story is way more believable than what they're spinning.

16. Yeah... I'm not buying it. |

You do have a point... but if it is a ligitimate accident, why develop such a contrived story where the fact that there was beer available at lunch been scrubbed and re-worded several times?? Why not just say it was an accidental shooting and have a police interview right then and there to alieviate any queastion of alcohol influence. Hunters have ligitimate accidents all the time... why not just own it?? And as for the media dump and bury... THey knew this story was going to be white hot the minute it hit the AP wire... did they think it would just be discounted because of the source??

17. I think one factor may have been Cheney's willingness |
|
I think Cheney hates talking to reporters, maybe they felt it would be too much of a risk of him losing his temper and pissing people off, although he acts like a corporate ceo, he is a public servant, he just doens't see it that way.

18. So don't have reporters there... |
|
just have the Sheriff do his job... just like he would be required to do of any other citizen of the United States. If he really has NOTHING TO HIDE... then why keep the Sheriff from doing their job?

I think the campaign has to be a grueling marathon but then it becomes the business of governing, with them its constant warfare, the race never ends.

Seems to me a shot that hit in the head, neck and chest would normally be the best one to kill someone.
Whittington was damn lucky.

beneficial result. It has changed the public image of cheney from a Darth Vader like scary tyrant, to that of an inept senile clumsy Elmer Fudd type. It has made him an object of ridicule to Repubs as well as Democrats. How can you be scared of somebody this incompetent? Unless you're hunting with him that is.

10. Well, maybe everybody else |

was sober enough to know they needed to stay "way the hell outta the way" of the drunk old fool. Didn't that ranch-owner-lady say that she was in a vehicle when it happened? I'd bet Cheeeney-weeeney rides in a bullet-proof assholemobile, so maybe everybody else was in or behind that vehicle? Or maybe they've been there in the company of the drunk old fool often enough that they have a fortified bunker on site for all the folks that want to live to see another sunrise? C'mon, let's not let the Dick off the hook that easy.
