Today's global warming snapshot: Yukon capital may have to import snow
http://www.cbc.ca/north/story/snow-yukon-15022006.html

CBC News

The city of Whitehorse says it may have to truck snow in from a mountain pass near Alaska to make sure mushers in an international sled-dog race can drive their teams into the territorial capital.

A warmer-than-usual winter, combined with less than half the usual precipitation, has made the area around Whitehorse nearly snow free. Most roads are bare, and grass and gravel are peeking through on many lawns and driveways.

That's bad news for organizers of the Yukon Quest sled-dog race. Mushers left Fairbanks on Saturday on their annual 1,600 kilometre race for Whitehorse.

Arctic could be ice-free in summer in 15 years: scientists

CBC News

Scientists say dramatic recent melting of sea ice in the Arctic may lead to the lowest level yet of ocean ice cover in the Arctic this summer, and warn drastic changes to the northern ecosystem could result.

More than 120 scientists from nearly a dozen nations are attending the meeting of the Canadian Arctic Shelf Exchange Study in Winnipeg this week.

1. Kicked for Significance.
Somedays I feel like the only one that's sadly paying attention.
Thanks for posting this.

3. Thanks.
While it gives me no pleasure to bring it up, nor to know I'm not alone, at least some "one" knows what I mean.

It's so obvious. I have many days I wished I was not so aware, you know.
