cheney scandal in a nutshell:
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 11:34 PM by unblock
drunk on an adulterous double-date trip to hunt tame birds for which he did not have all the necessary permits, cheney shoots one of his biggest bribers under unknown circumstances ranging from incompetence to negligence to premeditation, covers it up for at least 14 hours, carefully avoiding a timely breathalyzer that would have proven himself sober, and instead goes home and has yet more booze, and ensures that the spin is that everything about the injuries that sent a 78-year old man to intensive care and caused (at least) a heart attack was "minor". goes on tv to claim that he can declassify anything.

did i miss anything?

1. I'm still hung up on the hobby of shooting tame, penned birds.
I'm sorry, but that's still the creepiest part of the entire thing.

2. the Swiss Miss's hubby accompanied her. I just heard it on Tucker's MSNBC
show. Tucker was debating a guy who was attempting to draw a comparison with Chapaquiddick.

13. Not that I would EVER take issue with Tucker Carlson ...
... a totally unbiased 'journalist', but the speculation has been running rampant on the airwaves and the internet(z) for four days now about Cheney's 'companion' -- and today it comes out that her hubby was there the whole time?

Hhhmmmm ...

11. i think they have a code of silence
their duty is the safety of their charge, and if their charge thinks they'll rat on them he'll try to distance himself from them, and that makes it very difficult to carry out their duty. i think they've even argued that they can't be compelled to testify, although i don't think courts by that argument.

point is, they wouldn't talk unless legally compelled to.

9. Works for me.
What kills me is this. The shooting accident happened near dusk on Saturday.
The next morning, the day starts as usual. At lunch, there's a gentlemanly discussion about geopolitics.
The subject of the shooting incident is never brought up at any point during the lunch.

That's what gets me.
