"No fear, just the facts."

Did I get that right? I was blown away.

5. Should be "Contains No News"
since they've morphed into something to the right of Pox but heavier on the tabloid garbage.

Of course they did get Whittington's name right. Some dimwit brunette on Pox kept calling him WhitFIELD.

7. Whose fear are they acknowledging?
Their own as a weinie, pussy, cowed media? Or are they saying that they will follow the truth regardless of where it leads? How refreshing would that be?

I sense the media tide turning, even if just a bit. They make themselves look so foolish when half their audience is better informed than they are just because of following the blogs, which come to think of it, have kind of led the way in fearless reportage and opinion.

11. I admit I got overly excited
When I heard "no fear" I thought of true fearlessness, and thought of a true non-Fox news station, strong and proud. That might come to the rescue.

I just got too excited.

13. Does that mean the they are changing from All Fear, All the time?
It would require a change in reporting if they are going to stop peddling fear and start giving facts.

14. Orwellian translation: 24/7 fear and rove's 'facts'
Let's see what they say about the woman in the photo baring her breasts. I heard on CBS radio that she was a prostitute. That makes it OK?? I guess we're supposed to believe she did this voluntarily despite the religious rules against this.

23. link
I saw a photo of a woman with exposed breasts (blacked out) on TV news yesterday and heard the 'prostitute' report this morning on CBS radio news. Interestingly, I haven't been able to locate the photo online. Many of the response stories online talk about: this is old news, all it does is inflame passions...Obviously, rovian spin.

"Other images included photos of women's breasts, prisoners with severe wounds or covered in faeces, as well as degrading pictures of several corpses."

25. Thank you. I knew about the new pics but only managed to get through
the first few on Kos before I had to take a break. It's not the blood or feces that makes me ill, as a nurse and a mother I've seen plenty of that. It's the horrendous inhumane treatment of other living beings that is so abhorant to me that I need to turn away even as I crave to see ALL of those, right up the chain of command, held resposible and tried and punished for their crimes.

16. The so called main stream collapses into jingoism
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 07:31 AM by teryang
"No fear" is an anti-rationalist meme, fascist in nature,

Similar to the Nike slogan, "just do it."

It is anti-analysis, anti-reflection, anti-consideration of the implications and consequences, anti-thought. The implication is rejection of the notion that a reasonable man considers the consequences of his actions. How can thoughtlessness result in consideration of the facts?

"Just do it," is a will to power meme easily recognizable as a fascist underpinning in the mass mind. It may be appropriate for the sports minded but it is a blueprint for disaster in real life.

Yeah, man, "no fear!", a lower class, redneck meme, now adopted by so called journalism. Catapult the propaganda, man!

24. Does that mean they're cancelling Beck's contract?
I don't watch it during the day, but as far as the evening's shows Dobbs surprises me every night. And Cooper's been doing a night "keeping them honest" series on Katrina.

I'm not too impressed with Connie and Maury. Only a half hour, one day a week, and little substance. Maybe they just haven't hit their stride yet.

As to the rest of them, I have a hard time watching Wolf (he must live on that set!), I absolutely despise Daryn Kagan, and most of the other anchors...well, if they have no fear they certainly do make it obvious where their allegiance lies.

Until Rove calls and tells them to pull the "yawning kid behind Bush" video.
Then the frightened Bush lackeys click their heels and say "Yes Sir Mr. Rove! We will falsely discredit the video in any way you order us to!"
